Hypertech Programmer + $75.00 = Nothing

I purchased a used HPP 3 for $75.00 and got home to test it, and nothing ! After researching it here, the previous owner must have not reset or programed his truck back to stock before selling it. So I'm stuck with a $75.00 paper weight.

Can anyone on here reprogram it or reset ? Surly there must be a way around it or is there something else I can do with it other than using it for a trot line weight or a paper weight !

You'll have to contact Hypertech to get it unlocked.

Will Hypertech unlock it, even if I wasn't the original owner of the device ?

They'll unlock it, but it's going to cost you a fee. It should be cheaper than buying a new one, but it's still going to cost you.

I am not surprised it's locked if it was only purchased for $75. If the seller didn't disclose it was locked than that's one thing, but $75 for a used, unlocked Hypertech programmer is unheard of for that price. Or at least I haven't seen them that cheap. My used EDGE was around $200. Granted they're not the same, but I would be a little skeptical if I saw a programmer that cheap...

Where did you buy it? Ebay?

I bought it at a swap meet ! The booth was clean and everyone was real nice, maybe they didn't know it was locked or who knows. And there is no chance of me finding them either, so tracking down the previous owner is almost imposible.

I like to think the better of people instead of going off on them and calling them names or stuff. Cause I believe that they or everyone of us, will have to answer for the things we did worng to people.

I sold mine on here for around $75 a couple years ago when I needed to upgrade to custom tuning

I also got my Xcal2 for $100 off this site unlocked and ready to go

Marus21 good positive outlook, I hope it works out for you
