Best programmer & other mods for my needs???

Hi everyone, New to the forum & I have some questions. I have a 1998 F-150 XLT Supercab with the 4.6 & auto. It also has the 3:55 posi rearend. It is a long wheelbase with about 88,000 miles. I have it on Mobil 1 right now. This is my daily driver & I use it to pull my 18 ft. bay boat. I am looking for a programmer & other mods that will help this truck to pull my boat & hopefully get better gas mileage. Don't get me wrong the truck does a great job of pulling the boat now & just trying to help it do a better job. Thanks. Chief Mike.

Read through this forum, Chief Mike. Troyer Performance is certainly a good choice, but there are others. Justin Starkey at VMP also writes tunes for the XCal and he is well thought of here too. I pull a 3600# trailer and have a Gryphon programmer tuned by Bill Cohron at www.PHPTune.com While the age of your truck stops you from some of the benefits of the later Gryphon/truck combinations (such as being able to monitor TFT while towing), you might still appreciate what it WILL give you. Later this year, around April I think, Bill will be offering the XCal too - so, you have three good choices here!

Jack covered it. Just wanted to add that Bill at PHPtune.com also offers a 6 position chip for that year of truck. Can you say switch on the fly. Im jealous, they don't make one for the 04 and newer trucks.

Call Bill. Ask him! He's the expert on this thing!

Don't worry, he won't try to push you into anything you don't want!
