XCal2 problems

Well I finally got my XCal2 in the mail a few days ago from VMP and cannot install my custom tunes in my truck. It said "Error-ECM not supported" when I went to try and upload the tune to the truck. I called SCT and they said there is a software update for the XCal2 that I need to install on the tuner. I'm having a very tough time doing it though and need some help.

There is a CD that came with the tuner that I've tried to download but can't get it to work. I plugged in the tuner to the USB and I can't figure out how to update it on the website either. Does anyone have any advice on what I can do to get this thing updated?

Here is their update site. You will need the software update and the windows drivers.

If your truck a 2007 there is a seperate update that is 07 specific, so watch which one you choose. You will also need the driver files too as was mentioned before. Load the drivers first and then the tuner update. I'm sure the reason you are getting the message on the Xcal is because of the firmware not being updated.

Good luck,

Why did your computer restart?

When you plug in your xcal to the computer it just is blank?
SCT has a live chat option on their website....

If your computer is having issues, do this upgrade at a friends house.

I had my XCalIII for almost a year before using it, and my firmware/software was severly outdated and I kept receiving error message after error message and continual download problems.

As a last option (which it sounds like it is the case), call SCT directly at 407-774-2447 and choose option 5 for tech support. They can remotely take over your computer and fix and download/update everything you need to get your XCal running and working properly. I worked w/an awesome Rep by the name of Jesse. BTW, I believe that he told me that they will be out of the offfice though until Jan. 5, 2009.

Good luck!!

Try another computer

X2 on the friends computer. I did my upgrade without a hitch and even if it did crap out on you I would still suggest another try. Were you able to load the drivers onto your computer? that's the first step, then do the firmware. If your friends system doesn't do it then it's time to get SCT on the phone.

I have an xcal 2, you need to update the firmware, 06's even need a specific one I believe.
You need to unlock the tuner to live load or live wire, and reformat, then load the new tunes.
If the person who made the tunes for you is not willing to help, find someone else who is.
I had shifting issues from the person who wrote my tunes initially, but he called and emailed and explained everything, walked me through re-formatting the xcal2, and kept making changes until I was satisfied.
