My Troyer/VMP review

Well, after waiting 2 1/2 months for my Troyer tunes, I finally recieved them and I was shocked that my stock tune out performed all three of their custom tunes. My throttle responce was horrible and the truck felt like it had no power what so ever. They told me to drive the truck for 1000 miles and for the tune to work out and I did and it never improved. Everytime I switched back to the stock tune my truck felt like a hot rod after the Troyer tunes where in.

So on the other note I decided to give VMP a try and I am very pleased with the results, the throttle responce is awesome and the drive ability is 100% improved over stock and is a night and day comparison as compared to my Troyer tunes. My Vmp tune was exactly what I was looking for When I mash the gas the truck moves like a bat out of hell. I have to take it easy though.....my tires aren't going to last vey long, and this is only with the 87 performance tune

This thread isn't to start a pissing match between the two tuners just my personal exsperince between the two. So as far as my review Justin gets two thumbs up thanks Justin for all your help

This post is a bunch of crap and probably not even worth a reply but I'll fall for it... Not being biased to the Troyers either, VMP and PHP all have proven to be reputable tuners here. Worse than stock? You must have loaded something wrong or received the wrong set of tunes , come on, be real here dude...

And you are not going to smoke your tires off with just an 87 octane tune, all else stock, on a screw.

Could not have said it better myself. Even if you did have a problem with a Troyer tune, you did not state if you contacted them to tell them what was going on with your tune. Sorry, but I don't buy into this either.

First, he said they told him to drive it for 1000 miles, so I guess he did contact them. Secondly, I really get tired of when someone posts what has happened with them, they get attacked as if they are nuts. Ease off guys, you may have had a great experience with a product and a vendor whereas the next person may not.

Thats really weird, there must be something wrong with your tune. Did you contact them about this problem? Did you do a dyno test to check the difference in power? My Troyer Tune puts 40 more horses to the wheels than my stock tune does.

I hope that we all have learn something out of this post. I think the Troyer Tunes are fragged, Because my truck was tuned by Mike and It is the Mustang Killer I wanted. I only wish Roush would have contracted them to do all Roush F150's non- RoushCharged 5.4's. My friend, I think you should do as someone stated above! GET a DYNO Run to see the actual difference in the truck! You can't always go off seat of the Pants feeling to judge your HP Gains! Happy Holiday's to all!

Dyno's don't take into account for transmission characteristics.

The thing is, any tune can have problems. Guys writing tunes are human and will a mistake from time to time. The buyer has the right to try work it out or look elsewhere whenever that happens, depending on his level of frustration. I would guess taht the long wait for the tunes in the first place, had something to do with how much effort he put into getting a remedy. Troyer has a great reputation for customer service. The OP chose to spend more money elsewhere rather than try to make the tunes work. It's really pretty amazing that there are not more issues than there are, when you consider how complicated these vehicles are.

I have the Gryphon 87 and 93 Performance tunes. The 93 tune has never delivered the mpg that I should get. Stealth has supposedly the same tune and the same truck. We have always gotten almost the exact same mileage with stock and with Edge tunes. However, he gets much better mileage from his Gryphon 93 than I do mine, about the same with the 87 Perf. This was mentioned to Corey and Bill and they asked me to send it back and he would take a look. It really is not that big a thing to me as I don't run the 93 that much, so I chose not to send it in. My point is, things happen, and I don't see the OP slamming Troyer. He just posted his problem and how he dealt with it

Yea, I wasn't wanting to start a pissing match. I have spoken with Troyer and he is going to redo my tunes, something must of gotten corrupted some how. He knows these trucks inside and out and thats why I was shocked the way the truck performed after the tunes. My stock tune is actually really good, I just wanted to be safe with the air intake. My screw is just a 2wd so, it's not a race car by any means, just wanting to improve it a little Even with the stock tune I never had a problem spinning the tires, this is also the best running f-150 I have out of the four 04+ models.

But on the other note I apologize to Mike, I shouldn't have even posted my troubles. As many trucks as he tunes ones bond not to take well to a tune and I so happened to be the luck of the draw. Hopefully everything will work out in the end Didn't mean to offend anyone or bash

I din't think they would leave you hangin. After all of the stuff I had to fill out for one of their tunes, I can't wait to get mine. They see to be pretty thorough.
