Got my VMP xcal3 today Have a few ? Help!

OK I did load the 87 performance tune and seem to go good and I can feel the difference My ? are to change to a different tune I like the 93 performance tune do I just plug the xcal back in and just let it over write the first tune I uploaded or do I need to flash back to stock then load the tune oh 1 more ? and I don't have to leave the xcal plugged in all the time just when changing tunes right?.Thanks guys

I am new to this too, so wait for a second opinon. But first thing, make sure you are running on 93, run the 87 down and then fill up with 93 before flashing, but you probably have already done that. You do not have to leave it plugged in unless your data logging. I am not sure about the other question, but it seems like the X3 will do a backup of the stock tune if it needs to.

I had this same problem and it since he was so busy it took about 2 weeks to get my tunes fixed. My new tunes work now. My problem was that the PCM was flashed by a Ford dealer at some point and I didn't know it so the PCM had a different equizzer value that what it would have had if it was stock. Justin wrote the tune as if the truck's PCM had its original factory settings and that is why it didn't work. After I gave him the strategy code read from the XCal3 everything was fine. Make sure you send him that strategy code. Good luck and I would like to hear how your problem is resolved.

hahah sorry I sidetracked your thread. I actually just got my VMP tuned XCal3 yesterday and have some of the same questions as you about adjusting the settings and that is why I could not answer your question. I will keep watching this thread to see what other opinions you get.

when i went to change from one tune to another to see if one worked or not, i just went to one tune, found out it didnt work, then back to stock, then try a different tune, found out it didnt work, then back to stock.

I can only talk about the Gryphon/Edge Shane. (And the only reason I'm posting is so you know you're not ignored and to keep the thread hot).

I KNOW you don't have to leave the XCal plugged in though.

In the case of the Gryphon, you can switch between tunes directly, without going back to stock in between. I strongly suspect you can do the same with the XCal. If someone doesn't give you a yea/nay soon, I'd just see if the XCal lets you do it this way, and if it does, assume it knows what it's doing.

Most of these devices, if they're at all reputable, are not going to let you do something that will hurt you. I put the XCal in the reputable category.
