Exclamation Can anyone help me?

I have been a ford owner my whole life, have had mustangs and everything else, but now i finally went from a 98 to 08 150 FX4 and the whole computer thig?

So my question is are programmers good?

and what kind and how much does it help.

I am looking for better gas milage for thruway and just something that i can use for further tuning in the future after this deployment.

So if anyone has some insight thank you.

Gryphon is the most popular on "this" site, not overall. There are other programmers. The gryphon is more basic but the SCT allows for more programmability.

Both are much better than stock though, no matter what you use your rig for.

DH... What does the SCT offer on their programmer that the Gryphon doesn't?

Definitely go with the Gryphon, especially with their new prices. Even the canned tunes are worth it. I can't wait for my custom tunes.

Welcome to the forum, Fraunk! You're going to see nothing but rave reviews about programmers on this forum. I was like you - my truck is my first computer controlled vehicle. I almost croaked when I couldn't find any spark plug wires or any kind of throttle linkage. What in the heck could I do with it, I wondered.

I discovered the truck had a nasty throttle lag when I wanted to pass someone too - not good. And, it sure used more gas than my previous vehicles.

I now have the Gryphon programmer from www.PHPTune.com and Bill has written two custom tunes for me - an 87 octane economy tune and an 87 octane towing tune for when I pull our trailer. Both tunes completely cure the throttle lag and they improve the gas mileage. Plus, I like being able to monitor things like the transmission fluid temperature and the battery voltage when I'm towing.

Bill can write tunes for you that will take care of all your needs, I think. Just give him a call and talk to him. His number is on his website. He's a good guy! He won't try to "push" anything on you.

- Jack

LOL....so you gave us the link. That doesn't support your claim of it offering more programmability. You better gain more knowledge about both of them!

Go to the Tuning and Progamming Section and read some of the threads. That should answer a lot of your questions plus help you come up with some specific questions that everyone can answer.

Same as Suzuki says and you can also monitor more PID's at the same time for starters. I figured you had a brain and could read it your self. Maybe you should do some reading

Not gonna have a pissing contest here.

Just to clear something up for you - Monitoring is NOT what you would call "allowing for more programmability".
......nice brain comment there too.....you're a class act
BTW- The Gryphon logs data as well.

Well..since you can monitor more....mmaaayybbeee you could get more live data to change your programming settings.

I know the gryphon logs data to, but not the same. And if you had read the info on the link instead of making the "initial" snide comment you would see the differences.

And as for the class act..don't spew what you don't want coming back at ya

Knew there was a reason why I stopped coming to this forum
