General question about Edge and Gryphon

I've been trying to research the programmers and notice that both come with a mounting pod but what if I don't want to mount it. What happens if you program your truck and then unplug the unit altogether? Does it lock the unit or does the programmer have to stay plugged into the PCM forever?

Sorry for the dumb question but I'm dumb when it comes to these things. I just want my truck to respond when I step on the gas pedal either from stop or while trying to pass. Also the only mod I have on my truck is a dual cat back exhust, do I have to have custom tunes or while the canned tunes work?

You do not have to use the monitor at all. You can program the truck and put the unit back in it's box until you want to reprogram.

However, you are paying extra to have the monitor and it's gauges. I never want to be without mine, as I glance at them constantly. You can monitor up to 4 items on the screen at one time. One of mine is the digital speedometer. It's easier to see than looking between the sterring wheel. If you do not intend to use the gauges, then you might as well save a little money and get the Xcal3 from Troyer or VMP.

I'd have to agree with Bluejay on this one. One of the biggest advantages to the Gryphon is the mounting pod and gauges. I've heard nothing but good things about Justin and Mike's tuning!
