XCal 3 Datalogging question
XCal 3 Datalogging question
Ive been having problems with my Mustang’s tune and wanted to solve it before the car goes away for the winter. Well I got it tuned about a month ago and it wouldn’t hold an idle at startup and would take about 3 -4 start times to even get it to run. (I need to keep giving it gas to keep it from stalling) Once it would catch it would cycle at 500-600 RPM for about 30 - 40 seconds then finally catch an idles of about 1200RPM and hang around 1000 when warm. Also I would have a buck going slow (1400-1700RPM) in second and first gear. I went back to my tuner and they said the problem was fixed but not the case. Especially with it a little cold the car will take about 3 -4 times to finally start and then that horrible loopy idle. It'll cycle at those low RPM's still for about 30 seconds. The car stinks when this happens every cold start and could it be doing any harm. He said it either too rich or too lean??? The idles hangs now when shifting and it‘s not bucking anymore for now.
Now to the question I called and mentioned data logging with my Xcal3 and he said do it and e-mail him the files. I tried last night and it wont let me data log until the car is running? Is this the case? I really wanted to data log from once I hit the key to when it dies and idles horribly. I want to see exactly what the car is doing before it dies out. Sorry about the long post....

The only problem is i live about an hour away from this shop and I usually need to drop it off after work and pick it up the next day. I wouldn't mind but its a lot of gas and tolls are insane now at about $10 each trip there and back. I told him keep it until its fixed I didn’t mind leaving it a couple days but it was ready. So he said..... I might just wait till he has an open Saturday and wait with it. Any ideas on the data logging from initial start-up?
With the tune it shouldn’t matter how aggressive my cams are right- it should still start? They said my cams are very aggressive so that might be adding to my problem plus I have the MAF conversion (blow-through). They are Comp cam 270’s. I bet there are a lot of others with my setup and no problems.
