If you can find an unlocked x2 for cheap, you can buy a single tune. Should be anywhere from 200-250 for x2+tune. At WOT the JLT intake runs 14.5:1 where it should be at 12.5:1, so you may be losing power instead of gaining.
The programmer adjusts the way your truck runs, accounting for the additional air flow. Your truck is tuned for the stock intake right now. The custom tune will reprogam it so it knows your getting all the extra air. Basically your new CAI won't do you much good without it.
