Running rich... a bad thing?

And here I was worried about running lean. My engine light keeps coming on, when I check for codes on my Gryphon, it says I'm running to rich. I think the exact phrase is "P0175 Sys running rich (bank 2)" or something like that anyway. I know that Bill and Corey are on vacation, so I didn't want to bother them. I clear the codes and they came back on every tune. Any thoughts on what might be making it run rich?

Running rich is better than running lean, but yes it is a bad thing.

It means you are wasting fuel and possibly fouling out plugs and leaving carbon deposits in the cylinders.

I haven't cleared it and changed it back to stock yet, I'll do that tonight. Do you think it is something that Bill can fix or one of the other 20 things that could cause it?

I would return it to stock and see what happens. Email Bill and let him know of your problem. Give him as much information as possible.

I'm going back through and checking each tune to see if all of them will throw it. I know the level 3 performance one throws it. I drove about 25 miles this morning on level 1 economy and it hasn't thrown it yet. I'll check level 2 towing and stock over the weekend and let you know Monday morning. I've had the tunes since the Friday before Labor Day, the engine light didn't come on till I switched to level 3, so I think it may be the only one.

So much for that thought, it threw the P0175 and P0172 after about 50 miles on level 1. I ran the truck with all my mods except for the Gryphon and tunes for about a month and 1,000 miles with no light ever coming on. I see that Bill and Corey are back so I will shoot him an email today or tomorrow and get his thoughts.
