Edge performance setting question

I have the edge tuner on my 2004 ford f150 fx4 and i will be running premium gas on level 3 performance level, but if for some reason like my g/f is driving it and forgets to put premium in will it do any harm to my engine or anything. Thanks

Protip: Get a new girlfriend if she does not put in premium.

Probably not if it is mixed with some 93 and it is not driven hard. If the engine is put under a load and the octane is not high enough, you will be running lean and will usually hear it ping. Just change it to level 2 as soon as you can until that tank is run out.

She can't remember that it needs 93 octane? Will she forget she has a boyfriend at the bar, too?

... joking.

Bluejay, are you sure about this? Why would the engine run "lean"? Yea, it should knock, especially under load, but the A/F mixture ratio will not be effected.

However, the effect, running "hot" and damage to the engine may be the same, and that may be what you were talking about.
