I have officially requested to be refunded the sale price $275 asap due to the unit being non-functional and also a mis-representation of the item(s) being sold seeing as the pic sent to me prior to sale is not what I received.
They can send the unit back to Edge for repair, if it's still under warranty and then re-sell it or whatever they like. I cannot, as manufacturers normally do not honor 2nd/3rd party warranties for items like this.

I'm not going to name names unless it seems it is aparrent the member will not co-operate with my request. Based on their post count and seemingly "good standing" in this community I think they'll do the right thing.

Hopefully I'm not burning bridges or outcasting myself, but I think I've been thru more than enough with this particular case.

Hi Turbo77 - this is my second attempt to answer your post. I accidentally deleted the first one! :o

You've done a good job trouble shooting the thing. I think Edge owes you a new unit and you should call them right away.

If you get no satisfaction, call Bill Cohron at www.PHPTune.com I'll bet a month's AF retirement pay that he'll tell you what you need to do to get it working.

The only glitch is, he's out of town for a while - a NADM meet followed by a much needed, but all too short "vacation". You can click on the News link, and then the Calendar link to see when he'll be available. (You'll see he's pretty busy - must be because he's so good at what he does)!

But, if Edge doesn't help you here, I know Bill will. Sorry you've had this problem.

Hang in there Brother - it WILL get better!

- Jack

Now I'm confused - who did you buy this from?

A fellow F150online member who shall rename nameless for privacy reasons and my hopes that he's cooperative with me to help fix this solution. (i.e., he can return it to Edge for warranty repair cause he has the proof of purchase and he's the original purchaser).

Unhappy

Ok, was told this worked "flawlessly" 2 weeks ago, and was even updated prior to shipping.

Is there anything else that could be wrong short of this thing ****ing the bed?

Sounds as if the update may have killed it. The guy should refund your money and take it back. You have correctly tried to install it and it's dead.

What am I missing... or is this FUBAR? :o

TIA.
I'm no expert but if you installed the edge in the order described above, you may be liable for the damage? Never turn on your truck then plug in a tuner!
It explicitly states that in the manual.
Although i don't know the extent of damage that can occur, i do know it doesn't sound good for you.

Verify your trucks year model with the previous owners year model. that might be the problem?

On page 10 of the manual, Item 5, it says, turn the key on and then plug the cable into the OBDII connector. This is what I have always done, and no problems.

That should be no problem. If you are not getting a lighted screen when it's plugged in, only three things can be wrong. The recepticle is dead, the cable is bad or the unit is dead.

Well, decided to see what I'd get installing the software onto my PC. Goes thru, install everything just fine, when I plugge the Edge in the screen was initially red, then turned green somewhere thru the software install. There's nothing on the screen, just solid green. Got to the 'registration page' and had to run back to work (where I'm at now).

Does this mean there's hope?

Possibly! Maybe! I have never updated mine in the 3 years Iv'e had it. If it does not light up when plgged into your truck, then I would think the cable is bad.

Lightbulb Omg.

Guys/Girls... please excuse me while I go bury my head in the sand. Thru all of this, I was too busy worrying about the trucks OBD2 sys, the Edge itself, the cable ends, blah blah blah...
What I did not bother to look at was, dee de dee... the cable itself!
Somehow (don't care at this point) there was a cut in the cable ~7" from the OBD2 plug!
All is well now as it has been fixed and is working perfectly!

Sorry I wasted everyone's time with this. I have to admit I feel really stoopid right now.:o

Mods, please feel free to delete this entire thread.
