Question Max Energy Econ

I am new to owning an F-150 and I had just purchased a Hypertech Max Energy Econ edition programmer. I have noticed that no one writes about this programmer and I am wondering why. Has anyone else used this exact product? And if so what type of gains (fuel economy wise) have you seen. Thanks in advance.

Welcome to the forum, Dave. I've never seen your programmer discussed in this forum. Is it a new device?

You MAY be the gunea pig! If so, you'll have to do some before/after comparisons and tell us what you think.

Jack, before i had tuned my 06 FX4 with Hypertech I was recieving 14.3 mpg. Now I am getting 16.1 and I am driving my truck a little harder. So it was def worth the three hundred and some odd dollars that i had paid for it.

Good feedback Dave, but my name's "Jack". I see I got a bit "fumblefingered" and will go back and correct it before too many members get the wrong idea. :o

I think your mpg gains are about what I saw when I installed an Edge with "canned" tunes on my truck. Since getting custom tunes from PHP, I'm doing a bit better.

So, you seem to be "in the ballpark". At least you don't have one of those "fits all makes and models for the last 20 years" chips!

I just had a horrible thought! A dip sh*t seller could program a "chip" to make your PCM "think" the truck traveled, say 120 miles, when it only covers 100 miles. If you use 7 gallons of gas to do this, instead of a bit over 14 mpg, you'll think you're getting 17+ mpg! Make sure your programmer lets you recalibrate the speedometer and odometer - the good ones do!
