Will the EDGE do good for me?

My friend just got one his 05 f150 and has an intake and exhaust and says he got like 4 mpg and he notices big power improvements. i have an '00 5.4 with intake and exhaust as well, will the EDGE do good for me also? i am pretty set on getting the Edge just thought i would ask. I read that my truck wont get the gains of and 04 and up would. so any input would be appreciated. Thanks

I've heard that the pre '04 models don't see the gains that the '04+ do with tuners, but i don't know first hand if this is true or not??
I'd recomend getting a Gryphon from PHP, essentially the same as an edge but custom catered to your vehicle! that way your friend thinks you have an edge. but you will have custom tunes that would be mod specific!

Custom tuning will yield the biggest power and fuel economy gains all the way around, so pick your poison which one, but don’t get canned tunes IMO

Yes, you will see gains. Hopefully some of the guys with 2003 and earlier trucks will respond.

yeah even if i use the canned tunes from edge i will still notice a decent improvment wont i? can i ever get custom tunes for an edge in the future? i do not tow or anything just want some power and maybe fuel mileage. after seeing my friends looks like a neat thing! haha

any negative affetcs of putting one of these in?

Sorry getting off topic but does your friend have wheels/tires or a lift on his truck also? If I could get +4mpg from a tuner man I got to start saving some cash

First, I would double check all the facts and calculations. I have never heard of that kind of mileage increase with any tuner. My Edge broke even as far as mileage is concerned.

Second, look into the Gryphon from PHP. It cames with the same canned tunes as the Edge, same hardware as the Edge, but has custom tunes as an option.

I noticed a huge improvement in throttle response, better transmission shifts, and roughly 1 mpg increase with my Gryphon on the canned 87 performance/tow tune. I am looking for an even greater improvement when my custom tunes arrive in another week or so. IMHO, the tuners are definitely worth the money spent.

I've heard of AMPG gains that high buuuut. its not accurate!
I had somewhere around +6 mpg gains when i first bought my edge....

until i epdated the firmware

since updating My AMPG has been more realistic!
