Poor Mileage
I have a 2006 F150 5.4L with 3:73 rear end running 87 oct. I use the cruise control a lot to try to get better mileage I am getting about 15.5 mpg factory stock. I have just purchased an Edge programmer & Airaid air cleaner for about $700 hoping to get better mileage. With no luck I hooked it up and use program #2 and I got 10.5 mpg I talked to the rep He said to update online I did it went up from 10.5 to 14.8 mpg. I am not very happy to have spent so much with out any gains has anyone out their had any luck with theirs, Is their a trick I have not tried to adjust the shift points but have increased timing slightly mpg went down. I currently went back to factory setting.
That's not right at all. Honestly this isn't what you're going to want to hear. But, I'd sell it or at least trade it in for the Gryphon. Look into a custom tuned Xcal2 from VMPTuning.com. Another option is to trade it in for the Gryphon from Bill at PHP. The Gryphon is the same thing as the Edge, just re-labelled and it has custom tunes. I had an Edge and ended up switching to the custom tuned Xcal2 from VMPTuning.com because of all of the problems. Another thing to keep in mind is that the Edge is designed to run the stock air intake. It's possible you're running lean right now. The custom tuning can compensate for the air intake as well as a lot of other stuff.
What Thump said x2. When I 1st got my truck, I was getting around 10 to 11 mpg's and after duel exhaust, CAI and a custom tuned Xcal ll from Troyer Performance I am getting 15 mpg's now. There are a few tuners on here now that can do custom tunes. Since you already have the Edge, you should probably talk to Bill at Power Hungry Perfomance like Thump says!
x2 on this. I don't think Edge really knows what they're doing now that Bill has left them.

Bill is PHP...he can upgrade the Edge to a Gryphon, not to mention Bill still writes the updates for Edge, "in his other life."

I would have to say that the issue is twofold...
1) He's got a CAI on a stock Evo. In some cases this is ok, but more often than not it does not achieve the best performance. When running an AFE with canned tunes, we LOST 12 HP on the dyno.
2) He's running level 2 which is designed as a towing program. Because of the fuel and timing curves used in the tow program, it doesn't lend itself as much of a fuel economy program. Some people have had good luck with it but most people have either a zero change or a negative change in fuel economy.
The ideal situation is to get the Evo converted and re-tuned for the CAI and that should resolve the issues at hand.
And yes, I do still handle maintenance for Edge. There are just certain things that canned tunes won't handle properly.
Take care and happy 4th!
