X1. Something might not be right with yours. I'd let Justin know about it.

If the engine is reving up before you're moving that is not a problem with a tune. That's a very big mechanical problem ...

Give us more info, year, engine size etc. I think I know what he is talking about. When he is crusin down the road say 50 mph and goes to pass someone the rpm`s climb/engine revs and the truck just creeps along. That was my biggest b*tch to Ford about my truck. Finally the head service manager took me to the side and told me to get a programmer and just return it to stock when I bring it in for service. So I did and it made a difference. But now im back to stock for a little while and the truck runs great.

If we're talking about highway speeds, there is going to be a slight lag. The Titan 5.6L is very responsive and high revving. If he's got that problem at a stand still than there is a big problem.

yah at a stand still would be a big problem. Unless hes just sitting there spinning.

Keep in mind that no internet ordered, e-mail delivered PCM tune can correct for a mechanical malfunction. Have your truck checked out first just to make sure that there isn't a mechanical issue. Then driving your truck with a good tune is like night and day.

Just don't blame the person who wrote your PCM tune if it's a mechanical problem that you are having with your truck.

Throttle response is one of the things I improve in my tunes, one of the most basic ways to improve it is to get rid of the open loop delay, which limits power enrichment when you floor it. The properly remapped spark timing also helps with part throttle response improvements. And finally, remapping the driver demand tables helps too, but should only be done after the first two things are optimized.

Justin can you elaborate on the differences between your Performance, Gas Mileage and Tow tunes?

I'm not Justin but seeing as how he hasn't responded I'll help you out. I'm sure he can explain to you in much more depth but this should hold you over. The performance tune is of course going to be geared towards performance. The gas mileage tune will net you around 1-2 mpg maybe even more in some cases. The gas mileage tunes will have reduced part throttle power. However the WOT (Wide Open Throttle) will be the same as the performance tune. Justin also can make a performance tune geared towards mileage. The towing tune is for vehicles needing to tow about 6,000# plus. If you tow less than that the performance tune will be fine.

Absolutely NOT. The performance tune is not meant to be used for towing. I have a VMP perf and it towed terrible. I lost partial gears so my engine either reved at 2500 RPM or 4000 RPM. There was no in between at all. The tune works great with just the truck itself. I had to put it back to stock after driving for 15 minutes on the highway and my trailer is only 4500 pounds. TP says in their notes never tow with their perf tune. I wish Justin would have told me this when I got his perf tune. I did mension in my e-mail to him that I might have to tow with it when I ordered the tune.

Sorry but I'm not speaking from just experience alone. I'm relaying information that was from both Mike and Justin their performance tunes are able to tow. Just not past ~5,500-6,000 lbs. Were you traveling up hill? What kind of tounge weight was there? It's not just a simple yes or no question. There are many factors to this equation ...
