Edge Evolution or PHP Gryphon?

I've been doing some research on these two programmers and they appear to be pretty much the same. Is there some reason I would want to consider one over the other? Is there any reason I couldn't start out with the evolution and then have it custom programmer by PHP? And if so, wouldn't that essentially make it the same as the Gryphon?

evolution 400 bucks
upgrade 25 bucks
custom tune 50 bucks
total 475 with only 1 tune

gryphon with 3 tunes 495 (i believe)

get the gryphon you'll be happy, the edge can no longer be programmed due to CARB certification

I have the Edge EVO and am thinking about getting it programed with the Gryphon custom tunes... anyone have any feedback on the SCT Livewire? I just want to know if anyone has tried a side by side comparison to detail how one program may outperform another... always nice to have options!

I'd assume Fifty150 has compared it side-by-side to other programmers since he claimed it offers
even better power & performance gains and much better driveability than any other tuning, even on BONE STOCK vehicles!
Just sayin'...

It's $60 per custom tune. Good analysis.

So for a new Edge upgraded to Gryphon you're looking at $605 for 3 custom tunes. I got 2 custom tunes with my recent upgrade. Wish I'd have gone with Gryphon to start with.

Im in the market for a tuner. I was also debating which of these two to get. It sounds like I'll be getting the Gryphon. I checked their site and they do not off it for the '09 yet. Am I wrong? I didn't see it on their site.

I 've had an Edge for over a year now, I have had an AEM intake sitting in my garage for 6 months, and I will be getting exhaust soon. I need some custom tunes.

From what I understand my Edge will be $25 to convert and $60 every custom tune up to 3?

What is the turn around time lately?

Thanks,

Geoff

I had my Edge for about 30,000 miles, converted to custom tunes, Gryphon, and there is no comparison. I have now had the custom tunes for about 31,000 and if it died on me, I would be ordering another one. My 87 Performance tune is better than level 3 was with the Edge. Especially the shifting and downshifting.

It varies depending on their work load so you might just want to call them and ask. I had mine converted a couple months back and it took just over 4 weeks. Well worth the wait though!

You're correct. However, it sounds like they're close to being able to offer the Gryphon for 09/10 models. Check out their forum for the most up-to-date info.

The SCT device offers SO much more than what the Edge/Gryphon can do for data-logging, but this isn't a requirement for some.

Bluejay, consider putting that information your your signature, you will develop carpal tunnel with the amount of times you have to retype it.
