Fuel pumps

I spent the day at the dyno today only to have alot of problems.

The fuel pump voltage is spiking heavily. Up and down... no pattern. The higher the RPMS go, the faster and harder the spikes occur.

The problem is when it spikes high, it pegs out the pump and then drops low and then pegs it out and low again. It's delivering fuel fine, but it's just not tuneable like that.

The air/fuels check in "safe" and it's driveable... but not problem free.

The tuner doesn't really know exactly what could be causing it. He spoke on the phone and wokred with some other tuners during the day to try and resolve the issue.

They think that the fuel pump may be bad, or the fuel pressure sensor could be faulty. Any thoughts?

My main question is; Who is running an aftermarket fuel pump or boost-a-pump on the 04+ F150? My thoughts are that if I'm gonnaneed to replace the pump to "try" and resolve the problem, I might as well get a bigger pump incase I want to run more power in the future.

I'm also gonna replace the throttle body to try to rid myself of the stalling issues I'm having.

Anyone else run into similar problems while trying to tune a boosted 3valve f150?

Fuel pressure can be controlled via the PID gain. You can get it so it oscillates slightly but ramps quickly when needed, try NOT to use the Derivative, you will just find yourself going backwards.

As long as your TB is functioning correctly as it seems it does under normal driving conditions, the problem is with the tune. If your "tuner" cannot fix this I would jump ship ASAP.

The stalling is somthing that happened with 3 different tuners so far. Even before I put the supercharger on it. It's just gotten worse lately. I already have a new throttle position sensor too and that didn't help it... as per the TSB

The stalling is somthing wrong with the truck I firmly believe.. I could be wrong... but I don't know.

You clean the TB? Have him datalog/tune the Idle/ISC parameters, he should know what that is.

It';s gonna be a little while longer befoe I get back to the dyno. When you live out in the sticks and work everyday, the places to dyno at and the time to get there is limited.
