Edge removal advise
I have an Edge EVO on my 2006 F-150 Lariat and I have been experiencing problems with my Tranny so Im taking it in to the dealer. Should I disconnect the edge and not mention anything about it? What advise can anyone give me so that I can avoid any possible voided warranty issues?
Thanks

I'd reset the PCM to level 0 and take the Edge and its cable out of your truck before returning it to the dealer, unless you KNOW they won't try to blame the Edge for the problems you are having.
I'd reset it to level 0 now, and drive it through a few cycles to let it "reset" to an unaltered state. As I recall, the owner's manual talks about this if you disconnect the battery for any reason. I've read in these forums that some people have had the PCM "throw a code", when it's reset to level 0. I've never seen this with my programmer, which is now a Gryphon, but I always check for codes after any reprogramming anyway.
These are just my thoughts, others may have better ones.

Select return to stock from the on screen menu. Take out the Edge pod, unit, and cable. Drive it for a couple of days then bring it in. They might re- flash your truck. If they do and your not back to stock, your Edge will not work.

25 to convert and 50 per custom tune is what i was quoted by corey at php
The Government, in it's collective wisdom, has created a "one size fits all" approach to aftermarket mods to vehicles. This is all in the "name" of emmissions control, but is really just a knee-jerk reaction to a situation they don't understand.
Basically, the EPA has to approve any changes to your vehicle's combustion settings, and, if they haven't stamped these settings with their seal of approval, it's illegal, even if it produces better emmissions results than what they mandate.
So, Edge must sell a programmer with canned tunes that satisfy their arbitrary requirements. Edge cannot allow those tunes to be changed without being in violation of the law.
But, Bill can buy the Edge hardware and rebrand it, calling it a Gryphon. He can tune Gryphons all day long, because it's really the same as you mucking with your PCM's or Edge's settings. Edge is no longer responsible. (And, if you can't understand all this gibberish, you're not alone, I can't either - but, it's the LAW!)
The cost to convert Edge to Grypon is $25, it's on their website now. The cost of each custom tune is only $50.
I converted - I'm happy!
If you don't like this, write your Congressmen! Tell them that EPA rules need to be changed so that emmissions tests check results (at the tailpipe) not some possibly questionable changes to the vehicle's computer, that may or may not have any effect on our environment. And remember, you elect these people! What are their positions on this, and other important issues like the economy, education, medical care for our veterans and so on? Or, do you want to keep on electing people based on their opinions about marriage, phony patriotism, and other "feel good" issues (that don't cost a dime)?

Doesn't take much to wind me up does it? :o

You will be glad you did! I kept the Edge canned level 2 for my towing program since I tow very little, and bought Bill's 87 Peformance and 93 Performance tunes.
