I have a 98 F150 4x4 with the 4.6L and am looking to get a tuner for it. i want lots more power but don't want to have to go up to premium gas or kill my mileage. what should i look for?

A custom tuned Xcal2 from a reputable tuner like VMPTuning.com or Troyer Performance. I'd think about going to 93 octane. A lot of times people when running the numbers find that they are able to get more for their money running 93 octane. I know I did when I had my truck and I do now in my Mustang.

Bob, have you looked into PI heads? They could give you more hp than a canned tune. As for the cost of a custom tune I would set aside $500.00.

A custom tuned Xcal2 from VMP Tuning costs $395 with three custom tunes of your choice.

Here's the link ...

I am planing on larger wheels but that tuner says it only corrects speedometers on 99+ but i have a 98. The tuner sounds good/good price but how would i change my speedometer for larger tires?

that's a good one.

seriously I got better mileage with 24# injectors and a troyer tune on the 93 performance tune (driven accordingly)

talk to Justin @ VMP or Mike @ Troyer and then decide which one is best for you. They both offer Xcal2's
