Edge or Gryphon?

Reading all of this talk and seeing many great things coming out of both products.
The main advantage of the Gryphon is its programability (sp?) correct?

Hmmm... decisions decisions...

But why?

I'm not doubting it, I'm just looking for the differences. I know, I know... being able to custom tune the Gryphon should be more than enough reasoning. And it is... I'm looking for more specifics.

I'd go gryphon. It's very similar to the edge, but you get custom tunes for it as well.

x3 on the Gryphon. With it, you get the guy who wrote the "canned" tunes for the Edge and had a major role in the design of the hardware. He knows this thing!

He's interested in your needs, he's not into "selling" you on things you don't want.

If you get advice from him (Bill Cohron at www.powerhungryperformance.com) you can take it to the bank. There's been "mixed" reviews on the customer support at Edge, some good, some bad.

A custom tune will be designed for your vehicle and your needs, not some generic ride.

Since Bill is buying Edges and rebranding them so he can tune them, you are getting more flexibility at very little additional cost. If your needs change, the programs can be changed.

None of us have stock in PHP or Edge. We just know what we like!

The Edge is tuned/designed to work with thousands of different trucks. Its generic. Some trucks it runs fine, some it creates issues. Driveability isnt always great.

The Gryphon is tailored specifically to your personal vehicle and the strategy of your truck (Bill writes the tune for YOUR truck/incorporates your truck's mods to the tuning where the Edge does not). It will run much better, smoother, and most importantly, safer.

Both modules have the gauges and parameter options.

I recomend the Gryphon.
I had the edge and am now adding things to my truck to increase the performance and the edge actaully doesn't work well with some power adder mods. SO I decided to upgrade to the Gryphon, that way my mods will work in harmony apposed to defeating each other.. if that makes sense?
but be prepared to wait for the custom tunes. just FYI
but for stock trucks the canned(preset) tunes do wonders for our trucks!

As one who has the Edge with Bill's custom tunes, which I got before he had to cease programming the Edge, I can attest to all of the above. If my Edge quit working today, I would be on the phone today with PHP ordering a Gryphon with the exact tunes Bill wrote for me.

If someone had an Edge... and were to send it to PHP... would it be possible for Bill to reprogram it?

Yes, he has to re-lable it as a Gryphon and he sells you the new tunes. Call him for the exact cost and procedure.

Not that I am aware of, this again, needs to be discussed with them. As many as I have helped sell, I should get a free one! Just kidding. Actually, I feel I do the truck owner a favor by steering him toward a great product and i am helping an entrepreneural family that has found a niche.
