The wait is on........ Finally made my decision and gave TP a call! I should be expecting my canned tunes early next week! (Custom tunes 8-10 weeks but worth the wait!

Don't expect a lot from the canned tunes but you will likely be stoked with the custom. You got any other mods or all stock?

If you have the 4.6 or 5.4 you are good but if you have the 4.2 then you won't be enjoying any canned tunes because SCT don't HAVE any for the 97-03 4.2s.

The canned tunes in the XCAL3 are garbage. When I got my unit from TP, I put the version that was on the Xcal on my truck and it lost power. Then I noticed an updated on SCT's website and after updating the Xcal and putting the canned tune in again, I got a "critcal engine failure" message on the dash. Total crap.

But as impatient as I am, I couldn't wait for TP's tunes so I ordered a VMP tune and got it a few days ago. WOW.

Agreed. I am waiting for my Troyer tunes as we speak and my opinion of the XCAL3 canned tunes is........don't even install them, leave it as stock.

I did not notice any power gain with the canned tunes and furthemore, my gas mileage went down significantly. I went for about a month like this and I have now gone back to stock. Things are much better.

I am waiting also. I got an email from Crystal on 4-29 and she said 12 to 15 working days. I am now on my 18th working day and still waiting.

The canned tune was better than stock...but the custom tune the best. My TP custom tune is kinda weak off the line, but still better than stock. Maybe because its so smooth? Where I really notice the tune is when I am passing...

Are you in California? Or Canada?

Here in CA, we get a minimum of 5.7% ethanol in our fuel. Be sure that Troyer knows this. Wherever you are, be sure to get a performance tune in the highest octane available to your local market area. I am in California. The best that I can get is 91 octane. Man!! The truck just hauls compared to running 87 octane on the stock tune.

can someone explain to me what a caned tune is? I have a 99 f150 5.4 V8 with SIDO flow sounds and magnaflow high flow cats. What would be the best tuner to get and money is an issue too. Thanks!

Yes I am in California... I did add a note that the gas may contain up to 10% ethanol... I check with a local gas station yesterday and according to them their gas contained 7.74%....
