Ok guys and girls..... I know everyone talks so highly of PHP's customer service; which is awesome, but what about the performance gains with bills customs tunes, shift points, throttle response.... feedback please... (And please don't bash me, I am interested in his product and would like to hear more about the performance gains). Thanks.
Since I've not had my truck "tested" on a dyno, I can't give you "figures". There are all kinds of folks in these forums though who will be happy to oblige.
I know when I got my truck about a year ago (used), I was somewhat surprised at the throttle lag and "hesitation" during shifts, especially when I wanted to pass somebody and there was an 18-wheeler coming the other way. While my previous truck was underpowered, it didn't do those things.
Bill's Gryphon has changed all that for me. Now the truck feels "crisp" and "nimble", even when I'm pulling our trailer. I'm also very pleased that I can monitor the transmission fluid temperature, since towing puts a strain on the transmission.
And, of course, Bill and Corey are good, honest, honorable folks! Characteristics that seem to have gotten lost in our current culture.
But, to honestly answer your question, I'm positive you would see equal gains using tunes from Justin Starkey at VMP or Mike Troyer at TP. And, unless I'm totally out to lunch here, I suspect you are going to be reading information from their supporters soon as well.
Whatever your choice though, a programmer with good tunes will greatly increase your enjoyment while driving your truck.

well i have to agree with jack 100% on this one. i just got my custom tunes from bill on tuesday night, and i cant believe the differenece. i experienced the same "symptoms" with my new '08 5.4. extreme (to me) throttle lag, basically no downshifting unless you just completely mash it, etc... however that little gryphon changed all of that. you now have instant downshifts, and what seems to be power to spare. passes with ease at basically any speed. all in a package that is extremely drivable.
but, if you're looking for any negative, i do unfortunately have one. for some reason, my truck now refuses to cruise at anything under 80 mph. LOL. i have found out that i'm gonna have to pay a little more attention to my speedo for a while till i get used to how this thing drives now. it defenitely likes to move...
