If you're looking at the Edge check out the Gryphon from http://www.powerhungryperformance.com/ as well. It's basically the same but you can get Custom Tunes as well if you want.

Get the Gryphon or a Xcal2. Don't mess around with the Edge.

I'm not exactly sure what you've read, but by nature of the tuning, a tow tune will not increase your mileage. However, you should see some gains with the Evolution's level three, which is a performance calibration. I believe it is written for 91 octane.

Hope this helps!

I noticed that the Gryphon is $100 more than the Edge ($495 vs $399) is it worth the extra expense. I am interested in something, I am not going to get crazy with the performance mods I just want to replace what I have lost by going to the 36" tires and maybe a little mileage increase. What do you think?

I ran the Edge for 18 months and about 38,000 miles, before getting the custom tunes. I was happy with the Edge, but decided to get the custom tunes. Yes, worth every penny.

My truck is 5.4, 4x2, K&N drop in, and Flowmaster exhaust. So, basically stock.

The Edge comes with "canned" tunes - OK if you are running a stock truck and have no specific needs.

The Gryphon gives you three "custom" tunes (at $50 each - which is included in that $100 extra expense) to maximize your driving needs/desires for your individual pleasure. This is a savings of $50, as I'm sure you can see.

It used to be that the Edge could be tuned that way too. But, thanks to our benevolent government and the EPA's CARB regulations, Edge is no longer willing to let their devices be optimized.

Call Bill at PHP and discuss this with him. You'll be glad you did.
