Im 99% set on getting a gryphon, but i talked to a buddy of mine who has a 2000 f150 i believe and he said he got a hypertech and his in town mileage went up about 5 mpg but his interstate didn't change much, i was wondering if i could expect a 5mpg increase from the gryphon in town?? i get 15 on highway so i can live with that but 10 in town is killing me...thanx for the help

I don't think your buddy is telling the truth to be honest with you.

Mine went the other way. In town mileage still sucks. But I gained more than 5 miles over the EPA estimate of 19 MPG on the freeway.

My tunes were written by Mike Troyer and delivered via a SCT X3 Power Flash.

5 mpg increase seems to good to be true. i know with the stock edge i got maybe a 1 mpg around town and i attribute that to the lower idle saves me most in the stop and go.

Hi there,

Our customers are generally seeing a gain of 1-2 mpg with Billy's custom tunes. Not bad, really, when you figure out what percentage that actually comes out to be! I e-mailed someone today to tell him about the Gryphon, and with what his mpg currrently are, he would be seeing a 7 to 14 percent increase in fuel mileage! Of course, you might see a higher gain if you are getting extremely poor mpg now... the worse your truck is before being custom tuned, the better the increases are. It makes sense but doesn't seem fair somehow...

Hope this helps!

Here is my fuel purchase graph chart. The few times that I actually got to do any real highway driving this year, I got mileage up in the mid 20's. EPA says highway should be 19. The tunes contributed to a 25% gain in highway mileage. But my day to day, bumper to bumper, sitting in traffic waiting for the lights to change, still is bad. But depending on the tank, I'm still 1-2 miles above the EPA estimate of 14. So that is a considerable gain if you consider 10-15% good. My last tank of city driving was 17 MPG, which is about a 20% gain over the EPA's 14 MPG for city driving.

You must have a very special truck.

How in God's name do you get "mid-20's" (I assume that means 23-25 mpg) with highway, or any other driving? Are you running a fuel economy tune? Is your truck a reg cab, scab, screw?

At what speed do you drive on the highway?

I just find your claims curious.

My truck is an '05 4.6L Screw and I can get 19.5 mpg highway if I keep it at about 73 mph, 2000 rpm. This running Troyers 93 perf. tune, 3" AF1 intake and Borla exhaust.

And from all I've read and heard that's pretty good mileage for a truck of this sort.

City driving, I'm pretty happy if I get 11 mpg. 12 sometimes, but more like 11.

So what the heck kinda truck is yours, and what is your secret?? LOL
