ABOUT THE NEW SCT X-Calibrator Version 3
The X3 is the newest flasher from SCT. It was necessary for SCT to introduce this product to support future vehicles with new processor types. The X3 does not add any significant end-user functionality over the tried and true X2. The X2 is still a current product that VMP will continue to sell and support.

The major difference (other than the cosmetic updates on the XCal 3) are the vehicles that the XCal 3 will support. There are no differences in performance or anything, just that some of the newer vehicles are not supported by the older XCal 2.

By the way, VMP tuning is the way to go!

You'll be fine either way. Personally, I'd go with the Xcal2 since it's tried and true. I know it works on 2007s and I'm pretty sure it'll work on 2008s. It works in my 2008 Mustang. VMP is a great choice.
