Edge issues
Edge issues
so I think I remember edge not being open on the weekends, so I guess I'll ask you guys to get a rough idea before I call them Monday. I recently returned my truck to stock and disconected the negative battery terminal to do some engine maintenance, left the edge plugged into ODB2 port. When I was done hooked the battery back up, turned the key on, tried to program level 2 edge says my vid is not supported. It worked for a year and now I don't know whats up, all the guages still work. I just can't program. looked into the menu and it says that the external memory is corrupt, anybody have a clue what could be going on? thanks,

You are sure you returned it to stock and not just reset defults? You should unplug the Edge, turn key on, then plug Edge in. Did you try and update the Edge yet.
yeah I returned it to stock, it's on level zero when the edge is plugged in. I've tried unplugging and plugging back in doesn't do anything. My truck still runs, it's just on the stock tune. I can't get fusion to recognize it when I plug it in to my computer.
not sure I hope you get it resolved and post what went wrong. I plan on replacing my battery before next winter as it started sounding weak this winter. maybe the edge needed to be unpluged while disconecting the battery. or perhaps the edge just needs to start over. you may just turn your key off. unplug it and go through the same start up procedure you did the first time you installed it on the truck. I can not think of any thing else to try. good luck and post how you resolve this.

That ends my guessing. Call Bill (ASEMECHANIC) or drop him an email

Is fusion the right software for the updates, I know there is a problem with chosing lightning/fusion

talked to Bill, I think we got it figured out. The problem was not disconnecting from the OBD port. when I reconnected the battery the evo turned on, but since the key was not on it couldn't read my pcm and so it thought it was corrupt.
SOLUTION: Bill told me to try is to disconnect from the OBD port, put the key in to the on position and plug the edge back in. I will try this when I get back home. Jason make sure when you replace your battery you return to stock and disconnect the edge from the OBD

That makes sense. I will definitely do that. It sounds like that must be the issue. I think that is how you install from the beginning I bet it solves the issue. good luck
yeah i forgot about the whole key on thing making a difference, I haven't updated it for like 6 months, since they got the update that fixed the level 3 hesitation. I was happy with it so saw no need to update or do anything with it. thanks guys
UPDATE: still having the same problem spent an hour on the phone with an edge "tech" (i seemed to know more about computers than him) but it was nice of him to try. guess I'll have to call up Bill again to try to get this figured out. Lightning doesn't recognize it to update it and the key thing didn't work, so stuck driving my truck in stock mode for now
