just got my xcal 3 from troyer. for some reason i thought that it would come with three stock tunes. are they suppose to? i mean iorder the custom tunes as well but wanted to try the canned ones while i got the other. also i recieved the cai from them and it didnt fit my truck. i have 06 4.6 and the adapter that fits to the throttle body is to big. am i missing something?

Yeah, sounds like they sent ya the 3.5" intake instead of the 3".. there is no 3.5" AF1 intake kit for our 4.6L's.

I've got the Xcal 2, not Xcal 3, but I believe that the Xcal 3 should indeed come with some canned tunes that you can use while waiting on the custom tunes.. I'd sure call Troyer and get 'em to fix these issues.. I'm betting they'll resolve everything asap..

 

I had the same problem when I received my X3. I couldn't find the canned tunes in the programer. When the prompt asks if you want to "keep previous" enter "change". I don't remember the following procedure but that was the difference I made that finaly let me program the canned tune. I called Flash directly and they walked me through it while I was sitting in the truck. You won't believe the difference in the way the engine performs.

another question. when i plug the xcal 3 to the truck( which is the 06 4.6) it wont power up. but when i plug it into my 08 it does. whats up with that. for some reason im thinking troyer might have sent me a stage 1 kit for another year truck. the only thing that has fit or worked like it has suppose to is the exhaust.

 

You more than likely have a blown fuse in your '06.
I assume you know that you can only tune the truck that your originally ordered the XCal3 for, correct? The XCal2, and XCal3 will work on any year vehicle, (they are not year specific) but can only be used on the one you ordered it for as it will be VIN locked.

Not sure on yours, but mine is the same one that powers both the cig. lighter and to 12v power point on the instrument panel..Did you buy it specifically for the 4.6? Is that the vehicle you completed the custom program work sheets for when you sent them in?

 

yeah i bought it for the 4.6. i didnt program any on the tuner i just connected it to the 08 to see if it powered on.

 

i havent sent the sheets to troyeryet i still need to datalog and get him strategy codes

 

according to troyer our 4.6l can use the 3.5 intake
