4.2 Chip

I have a 2001 4.2 F150 and was looking for a Chip, or Programmer for my truck. It is a stick V6 so I'm wondering if a chip or programmer is even worth getting one on a stick F150? any comments would be helpful from anyone or anyone that has a programer on their stick F150? and if so which would give the best performance for the price, i was looking at the XCal2 but any info would be good.

Xcal2, Xcal3, Livewire, etc. are all devices to transfer the tunes to your truck.

The quality of the tune will be dependant upon who you use for the tuning. Troyer performance, VMP, etc.

I would call one of the tuners, and talk to them about the benefits of getting a tuner for a stick. There are still a lot of things that can be done to make your truck perform better.

Mine is an auto, 4.6, so I cant really help you out with that part. But call Troyer, they will be more than happy to talk to you all about it.

FYI, the livewire, and Xcal3 come with canned tunes to use until you get your custom tunes.
