Edge Custom tunes

I have had the Edge for about 1 1/2 years and have loved the thing from the get go. Never a problem over 34,000 miles on it. Then all this talk of Bill's custom tunes got to me. I ordered an 87 Octane Performance and a 93 Octane performance tune. Got them in two days, installed them this morning. Took a quick demo and loved the changes. Bill changed the shift pattern to what I wanted and the performance is much increased. Broke the tires loose at 20 mph, and it would never do that. Sqalled hard from a standstill. Can't wait till the drive home to see what it does in traffic. The most difficult part of the whole deal was driving to work this morning with no Edge, didn't realize how much I used the gauges.

Broke them loose at 20 mph? Stop putting bleach on your tires.

No no no, I used some Stickem I had left from my drag racing days and they still barked! Seriously, it barked the tires at about 20 mph.

Any mods besides the tuner (like intake or exhaust?)

I'm going to be picking up an edge next month and am curious if bill's tweaks are worth a shot on a 100% stock motor setup.

So to use Bills custom tunes you cannot have the Edge connected, so you have no gauges? Doesn't that defeat the primary reason people would buy the Edge?

Please correct me if I am wrong, but that just sounds odd.

NOOOOOOOOOO! I had to return the truck to stock, before hooking it up for an update, which I did yesterday. I needed to take the unit into my office, so I could download the tunes this morning. I pulled it out of the pod and put it in my attache last night, so I would have it when the time came. It's back in now. I would not have gotten custom tunes if it meant losing the gauges. Let me say again, Bill's customer service is second to none. This was the first time I had updated my Edge and I have had it a year and a half. He talked me through it on the phone, after emailing me the tunes.

sweet, that makes sense. I figured someone like you wouldn't sacrifice the gauges for anything.

That is so true. Bill helped me get my speed limiter removed using the Edge. And like bluejay said Bill has the best customer service out of anyone I have ever dealt with. Thanks again Bill.

Bluejay,

Keep us posted on how the truck reacts after you get some miles on it so the computer can "learn". I'd also like to hear if the MPG's change for you. I have been considering getting some customs done. I wonder if it would be worth it on a completely stock engine.

I just ordered custon tunes from Bill today. I totaly agree with the outstanding customer service. He has by far the best customer service I have had in quite awhile. He took his time to explain tuning, tire sizing, gearing and answered every question I had. I'm sure the new tunes will be awesome as we can all agree Bill knows these trucks and the Evo like the back of his hand. Greg.

Do the custom tunes show up as modified versions of the canned tunes? So if I'm running L2 now and I get a custom tune, I'm still running L2 but Bill has tweaked A/F and other stuff and I still have access to all of the normal parameters like I do know? That's how it worked when I was doing some bug testing for him, but that was strictly tweaking canned tunes. So, I'm curious as to how it actually works when you buy a new tune.

Wait.... Um... You mean there's a BACK on my hand? Why didn't anyone tell me?

I appreciate the kind words. I have always been of the mind that I treat people the way I would like to be treated. If more people would remember that, we'd have a much nicer world to live in. I do what I can with the people I come in contact with.

Take care all.

Bill

My level 1 is now what was level 2 originally, the towing tune. My current level 2 is Bill's 87 Octane Performance Tune, and my level 3 is now Bill's 93 Octane Performance Tune. Drove it quite a bit tonight, running around town. I really like what he did with the shift points. I drive a lot of busy freeway from 55 to 80 mph and asked him to change it where it would downshift quicker when I needed it. So far, I really like it. I intended to go to try the 87 tune tonight, but I am having so much fun on the 93 tune, I filled up with 93 again. I won't be getting as good mpg, I'm playing with it too much. I can really hear it suck air now, and I have a stock intake. He set my top speed at 110, and the only adjustment I had to make was for the tire size. I loved my Edge before but like it even better now, well worth the money.

When Bill writes these tunes, are you still able to edit them? Such as for tire size, gear size?
