First off Bill nice write up, it should be a ''sticky''. Burden04fx4 You will be very happy with the Edge, the guages alone are great and you will look at them more then your dash cluster. You will see and feel a difference in power and fuel mileage from your stock tune. I also traded my Mustang in for my truck when my second son was born and that hurt a little lol. I use my truck to 4x4 on the beach and thats where your fuel mileage will hit the crapper Let us know how you like the Edge when you get it.

Bill you gave a 'Classic' discription that everyone should read.

These boards are mostly populated by people who have little knowledge about the technical mechanics and overall workings and go mostly with hear say and wannabe hope for power and fuel mileage.
Trying to make a 5 to 6000 lbs truck into a light weight sports car for expected performance, either forgets this or don't take it into acount.

I agree, That was a great write up. I have been toying with the idea of an Edge for a while now just so i can play with the shift points and firmness to change the feeling a little and with thread this you just sold me on it. Thank you OP for getting it started.

So if i get the edge will it improve my mgp?? also i would like to run 87 octane But will run higher if will help I also want more power at times too but mostly im looking for better mpg
any help or input is appreacited thanks

also before i put on the 35s i was getting 17 to 18 mpg with the stock tires
I'm running about the same setup with the Edge Evo, I bought it to adjust speedo and tranny shift point's due to the taller tires. I've been running on level 2 using 87 octane and on the highway still able to get up to 18mpg. In stop and go traffic I don't use OD for a little better drivablity but mileage drop's to 12-13mpg. On highway I cruise at 70mph turning around 1700rpm's, these tall tires act like a double overdrive and keep mpg's up. If you drive these truck's easy I think they get great mileage. A lot better than the older carb versions I had!

See what happens when you ask a simple question? Sometimes you get a ridiculously long answer. Haa haa haa!

Even though the post was mildly technical in nature, I hope it made sense to everyone. I read through it again today and think it still makes as much sense as it did when I wrote. Sometimes when I write stuff like that, it makes sense when I write it and then I look at it later and ask myself, "What the heck was I thinking??"

As usual, I suffer from that condition where my brain-to-keyboard filter (very similar to the brain-to-mouth filter) doesn't always work! I just try to keep those incidents to a minimum.

Have a great weekend.

Bill

Anyone considering a tuner would do well to read posts #14 and #15 before reading any others. I second the STICKY nomination. This info shouldn't stay buried in this thread and you'd have to stumble upon it with a search.

I'm wondering if it's something worth re-writing (cleaning up a little) and putting into the technical articles? Does anyone actually read those? Just a thought...

Anyone looking for a tuner is going to visit this sub-forum first. It really needs to be a STICKY here. But I'll read your tech article
