What firm ware version are you using? When i had problems i was using 1.1.126 and then Mike at SCT updated it to 1.1.131 and it worked!

1.1.131 and 1.0.9 directly from the SCT website.

I called SCT first, talked to Chris, who blew me off and referred me to my Dealer (Troyer).

Contacted Troyer who helped me out, as I type this I am on the phone with them and in maybe 10 minutes I'm going to try it again. Will post an update with how we worked through it in a few.

So far still no luck. Troyer walked me through reprogramming the firmware. For future reference, once you are in the Livewire Firmware 1.33, hit the CTRL+ALT+F to reprogram it. It will wipe out the 1.0.9 (or whatever version you have) Tuner Device file. Then you will need to unplug / plug the X3 back in, and proceed to Transfer File (1.0.9 Tuner Device file). However, none of that worked, and I am still having the same problem. It's too late now to talk to anyone so tomorrow I am supposed to get some resolve.

to load the tune i went to program vehicle, install tune, pre-programmed, turned key on, it realized it was the 5.4 f-150, then turned key off, and tried loaded the defult tune on there. i did not try to adjust any of the settings.

ok, now if i have to update to 1.1.150 i can get that off their site right? how exactly would i get that updated version onto the tuner
I'm not extremely familiar with xcal, but I believe that you Aren't supposed to turn the key off when uploading?

By doing the CTRL+ALT+F your basicly formating the memory. By doing this you can do a fresh install and remove any errors that was there. When i had problems with mine thats what Mike at SCT did to mine and then we uploaded all the new files and firmware. He was also able to save my stock file from the mess that was in the tuner and we uploaded it to the x3 and reflashed my truck back to stock. I put a post here about it with Mikes ext number at SCT. The guy was great.

One more thing. When you get this sorted and you upload your stock file. Make sure you save it on your computer so you will always have the original stock pcm file. Its can be life saver.

Glad to hear that others out there are having the same problems. I went through the same thing. I was able to load the canned tunes and drive with them until the customs arrived. That is where the trouble started. I actually have a post on that already (TP tunes are in....trouble). I called SCT the first time and they reformated and updated my X3 and then I had to reinstall the custom tunes. Then I had to get SCT to send me a new stock file so I could unlock my X3 because it was locked on 87perf but the truck should have been programed as stock. That all worked well until I tried to change a tune. It then all went to hell in a handbasket. Same messages. the other is error can't open file. Called SCT for the 3rd time. This time they issued me an RA# and asked that I send it back so they can "fix" it. So great I finally get my tunes and the X3 crapps out. I spoke to TP and they are all over it too, so we'll see what happens. If I hear anymore from either SCT or TP I'll let you know.

Yah, I have only had my tunes about 2 weeks and had three times where it have been rendered useless. I had an evo before and no problems. that being said I like the TP tunes better for the 2 weeks I've had them minus 3 or 4 days of tech help......So AGAIN the wait begins.

Yep very frustrating. I got my TP tunes and they would not upload to my X3. Got that fixed and then tried to load 87 perf and it uploaded the stock file all the way to 100% and then gave me a error saying could not open file!
Tried to flash back to stock and it said no stock file uploaded! Im like WTF?
Well after being on the phone with TP and SCT we got it going but i tell ya it looked touch and go and was a pain in the ***. I will not update or do anything to the X3 now. Its running so im leaveing it alone. Once you get it going dont do chit with it as regards to updates unless told to by Troyers.

This morning Mike from SCT called to troubleshoot the problem with the X3 giving me the "Attention: Cannot upload stock files" message. He had me talk him through the process of installing preprogrammed tunes. He said I did everything correctly with the exception of the x3 not asking me to turn the key to the "on" position when attempting to get the stock tune to upload.

He asked for my 7 digit strategy code, which I gave him and he built a custom tune (custom in the sense that I had to add it to the X3 using the "Load Live Tune" function) and emailed it to me. We uploaded it into the X3 and tried again. It worked.

According to Mike @ SCT the problem was the current 1.0.9 Tune Revision file. Personally, I doubt this effects all vehicles but it did mine for sure. He said to wait until a newer version was released once the engineers work a fix for this, and probably other problems. Either way, It's working now.

So the question some might be thinking, how was it? We'll I noticed a significant change in acceleration, but not so much in the shifting department, IE different shift points and harder shifts. I just tested it out around base, and MP's are everywhere so I didn't get a fair test in, but so far I like it. Considering I have put a lift and 35's on my truck, it's been slugging obviously. 11 March baby! I go in to Troyer for AF1 3.5", (going to sell the KN Aircharger), electric fans, underdrive pulleys and a dyno tune, I think I'm going to begin to awake the beast.

Hopefully this thread helps others in the future, until the problem is fixed once and for all.

I tried that too. I think I had the 1.1.13 firmware on mine. We did all the same stuff and then the next time I tried to go back to stock, that is where the problems appeared again. I never did try to change inbetween different custom tunes. Maybe that's the trick. Stay far from stock.

Fat1 sry i left town for about two weeks. right before i left i was told by SCT to get an rma from troyer and send it back. but i called today and a woman told me to wait until the new 1.1.0 came out and see it that fixed my problem. But i just read that mike made a quick custom tune for you and it worked...maybe i need to get ahold of mike himself and have the same thing done?
