edge killed my truck

i have had the edge on level three for 15k now. the other day it(the truck) decided to explode and now my fuel system and driveline are screwed. the tranny is the worst that the tranny guy has ever seen in his 30 yrs of tranny work. now in like 4k deep into restoring it. dont get tunes, if your truck cant handle it, stock or old trucks its not worth it. youll be in debt

when you say explode do you like burst into flame or do you mean it just craped out?

B.S. How do you know the Edge did this???? It could have been someones heavy right foot. I want proof the Edge did this to your truck. were you raping on it prior to the "explosion"?

sounds like your truck is just a POS. a couple extra degrees of timing and firmer shifts would not destroy the motor or the tranny. if the tranny really is the worst your mechanic has ever seen, something else caused it for sure. firmer shifts would only make the tranny last longer because the clutches would slip less

thats what the mechanic said...truck is not a POS and i know how to drive a truck with out killing it. i had 180k on my last one when it was totaled, and the only thing i changed is tie rods, tires, brake shoes and pads, original rotors and drums. changed the fluids regularly. the exhaust i changed because i wanted to not because it needed it. thats it.
the thing did not explode literally with flames but it snapped all the gears and started sprayin fluid everywhere

But here's the question...

If as you say the Edge destoyed your transmission, Level 3 you say, did the shifts not seem excessively violent? No warning at all, huh? So somehow the Edge just ate your tranny for lunch with no clue to you as the daily driver for 15k miles?

I'm sorry, but I wish I had the ability to raise the BS Flag.. LOL..

Either your trucks transmission was a POS to begin with or you dialed in some crazy settings on level 3. The Edge itself didn't destroy your truck. Or maybe it did.

Your best bet at this point would be to hire a lawyer and sue the Edge company.

Good luck with that!

im running level three with a small up on the timing at 93 octane. i did plus six on the one to two, plus six for 2-3 and plus three for the 3-4. the rest, the max rpm was 5100, the shift points 4750 for 1-2 and 2-3. the one for 3-4 was 4600. for mods i have maggie high flow cats to a custom y pipe back with a 3.5 inch pipe then a si/do flowmaster super 40. also a k and n 77 series intake.
i still have the edge in my room, all of the computer hookups and manuals. with the CD for computer hookup.
the shifts were not violent at all, it did not slam and the only difference was that it seemed to shift quicker than stock. and much better. i thought it was doing me well from the smooth shifts that it was giving me.
the mechanic said that one of the reasons why the tranny could not take it is because the transfer case and the tranny were not on the same page and getting mixed signals. i didnt fully believe this but he also said that the tranny couldnt take the extra pressure from the engine creating a hp and tourque. he said the stock treanny couldnt take it.
for the 15k i ran the edge it ran better than it has ever. then one day it crapped out. i had changed the tranny fluid at 10k before it broke. it was still red when i checked it after the tranny had blown, was not burnt either. the motor started to run like crap as well when the tranny blew.
right now its sitting on blocks so i will prolly have a lot to sell, like 285 bfgs with 15k and some maggie high flows and an edge and a k and n. i would rather start over and go all out like built54 did, its a great 98. i got a 06 gmc canyon from my buddies company till i can fix mine.

First thing I would of done is REMOVE the edge before taking it to the shop. YOU know the first thing there going to blame the trouble on. I would of liked to see what they said happen if they didnt see the edge. Were they Edge experts and know how the edge shifts? The +6 firmness is the same settings I use. However I did get a custom tune for my Edge just for this one reason to be eaiser on the shifting.
