The tranny could have easily failed without the EDGE being installed. If you bought the truck used, how do you know how it was maintained before you got it?

Maybe it was used to do heavy towing.

Maybe it was owned by a real lead foot that thought it was cool to spin the tires every chance he had.

With only 15K since the EDGE install on a used vehicle, no way you can blame the EDGE. Although I think your settings were a bit high.

imho a tuner should not have user adjustable settings that can be detrimental to the powertrain

I wouldn't completely blame the Edge, but then again I wouldn't completely rule it out either.

Most likely the Edge was at minimum a contributing factor.

Of course on new low mileage trucks it wouldn't be as much of a problem, but with older higher mileage trucks it could have been enough to push it "over the Edge."

actually in the edge manual it says to up the timing a certain amount for running 93 because its programmed for 91. the engine runs fine, as well.
the edge was a contributing factor like wild bill said. i do tow with the truck and use it for work.
deff should have removed it, but i was out plowing for 35 hours straight and i had not been home. the tow truck came while i was out and my dad came and helped me out.
crash_lucky, could you give me some more info on those trannys? thanks

"the mechanic said that one of the reasons why the tranny could not take it is because the transfer case and the tranny were not on the same page and getting mixed signals. i didnt fully believe this but he also said that the tranny couldnt take the extra pressure from the engine creating a hp and tourque. he said the stock treanny couldnt take it."

get a new mechanic... quick. the tranny and transfer case is nothing more than a mechanical connection. there is no electronics to give "mixed signals" The biggest culprit is probably your plowing. That is not easy on equipment.

haha, twintips is the one who convinced me to get it.
as for work, its worked hard. ill admit it wasnt only the edge.
where can i get some of those cross drilled brake lines, they must really increase the flowing of the break fluid in the lines like an x-pipe. add to my stopping power for sure, almost as much as perforating them
