Hey Fifty150,

When did you send in your work sheets? Just curious as mine went in Nov 15th. I still have about 3 maybe 4 weeks to go.

Hi Everyone,

On the subject of the X3's "canned" tunes - I am not a big fan of canned tunes in general, as everyone knows - not when we can do what we do in our tuning.

That being said, we have virtually no problems using the canned tunes on the pre-2007 trucks, and also on a number of the 2007's and some of the 2008's (with the latest firmware & tune load) - there have been just a couple of 2007 strategies that had an issue of a code, to date that is all we have seen. Now that may just be a bad data load, in which case a reflash should do it - but if it occurs consistently, then leave the canned tunes alone and just let us get your custom tunes to you. And feel free to call us if you are having a problem, as we want to accumulate data on that so we can work with SCT to get these things fixed - we generally handle a lot of the F-150 tuning issues in working with them. Now they will of course be closed for the holidays until January 3rd, I think it is.

On the subject of the docs for the X3 - the X3's user manual is certainly much better than the X2's was, but I do agree that there still needs to be more work done to explain how to modify the canned tunes - however, we are not hugely concerned with it simply because we use it to load our custom tunes into, and they are very simple to load up, the X3's screen is much more user-friendly compared to the X2.

However, like everything, there isn't a tuning device on the market that does not work much better with some experience - and yes, scroll sideways as well to get into options.

I got the x3 for christmas as well. However I guess the custome tunes won't be in until around February. I think it's great what you can do. Before I attempted to load the pre-programmed tunes I datalogged my truck first and that was pretty cool. The only problem I have and maybe someone can help is when I change things like the speed limiter or the neatral rev and drive rev or pretty much anything the thing will stall at (up load stock "please wait while it downloads 99%) However apparently it puts the tune on there but it still stalls. I have an 06 F-150 Screw with 4.6L 4x4.

No, it was the tuner that was stalling I'd be flashing like normal but when the tuner would try to programs the truck it would stall at 99% (preparing to download) However I managed to fix my problem. Some of the parameters were messed up when I upgraded the software so I had to be everything back to default and as I have just found out the top speed is well over 110 MPH. However that'll be the only time it goes that fast. I just wanted to make sure what I did work. I LOVE THIS TRUCK GOD BLESS FORD

Just loaded canned tunes

I just loaded my XCAL3 canned tunes. I had no problem changing octane, gear ratio, and tire diameter. I want to set it for the performance perameter, but all I see is towing when I scroll up or down. There should be three to choose from, right? Otherwise it has made a nice difference.

I think if you scroll to the octane setting and scroll up or down there to change the octane setting. That is the higher performance settings.

I knew my speedo seemed a little off after I instaled the 87 canned tune with the Xcal3...so I checked it today and its off by 5mph!! Where/what do you do to change the tire size? I have stock 20's with the stock pirellis and 3.55 gear ratio. Any help would be greatly appreciated...I couldnt figure out what to do so I turned it to stock for now. The edge was a lot easier to follow when doing these things.

Hey mgp32,

You need to change the revolution per mile setting. Look up your tire size and it should also list the rev per mile and set your x3 to that or the nearest number you can to it. That should help with the speedo thing.

I couldnt find the Rev per mile on my tire or on the internet but I found a calculation. It says take 20800/Overal Diameter=RPM.

I belive the overall diameter of the 275/55R20 Pirelli ATR's is somthing like 31.9

So 20800/31.9=652

Does this sound correct? If I'm doing this wrong I would really appreciate it if you guys could get help me because 5mph is a huge difference!

Thanks
