How are the Xcal3's runnin'?

Mine should be in tomorrow along with my 3" AF1. Im hoping to get them instaled tomorrow and run that until my custom tunes come in.

My question is, how is the Xcal 3 canned tunes running? I should not see any lean conditions...correct? Any input would be great!

Merry Christmas!

i got mine Wednesday at 8pm between school and football and work i've been busy. Just loaded the 87 tune and changed my gear ratios. Im gonna go change my revs/mile right now. Im sorta scared to change the other things. any recommendations from anyone on what i should change and to what??(i.e. WOT stuff, shifts, etc.)

I loaded the 87 in also and my truck popped a code 2106. I would not run them at all. Wait for your custom tunes to arrive. My truck did not like the Xcal 3 caned tunes at all. But then again i think i might have done something when loading it but hey who knows. Im staying well clear of them till my tunes arrive.

It also could be that the canned tunes on the Xcal3 doesn't play as nice on the '04's vs. the '07's??????

Stay well clear of them in my opinion. Hold out for the custom tunes you ordered, thats what im doing.:beers:

Im gonna still try it...I talked to a few people at Troyer and they said there should be no problems...they have done multiple dynos w/ the 3" and canned tunes and they run fine.

OK just got done with the AF1 instal and I hooked up the Xcal3 and loaded it.....WHY DOESNT IT GIVE YOU THE OPTION OF WHAT CANNED TUNE YOU WANT TO LOAD? It just started loading it right up w/out asking! Im assuming it was 87 perf?

Anyhoo...she runs ALOT fast now! Canit wait for the custom tunes tho...

I have a 07 with the 5.4 and have received my x3 from TP (still waiting on the customs) and a 3" AF1. I like how there are no instructions on how the hell to operate it. I have I think figured out how to use the caned tunes. I have set it to the 87 and then to the tow option and nothing else so far. I had to update mine before I could use it with my truck. The fella at SCT that I spoke to helped out alot. Would be nice though if they had an 800 number. So far for me it has been just fine. I'd also like to say that if anyone is thinking of going with the TP tunes, my experience has been great so far. I had another tuner before and the service...not so great.

 I thought the edge manual was bad but the Xcal 3 with no manual is even worse.
They have a manual in pdf format on the SCT site. But it does not go into detail on how to load the tunes. Also to update the firm ware on the Xcal 3 the SCT x3 livewire updater says to press the jog wheel and hold to go into the re flash mode. But guess what it does not work. I finally figured it out and you have to press and hold the cancel button to get it into the flash mode to update to the latest firmware.
I guess these are growing pains of a new loader but i hope they come out with a newer manual with a little more detailed instructions for doing chit!:coffee:

So now one knows? I loaded the "default" canned tune I believe...is that the 87 perf. tune?

mgp32 Dec 25, 2007 04:41 PM

bump...this Xcal3 still has me confused. When you load a tune it doesnt give you a choice to choose which octance perf. or if you want a tow tune. No one can help me with this?

As one of the guys on this site always says. RTFM!!!! Ohhh thats right its not in the manual.
I believe when you select a tune you scroll sideways to change the options of each tune and then up and down to select the different options for that tune. I do remember seeing it when i was loading mine.

Good luck!

Troyer had my tunes and X3 delivered by X-Mas eve. So far, so good. It did what it was suppose to do. My truck is running on a 91 Octane custom tune.
