getting rid of airaid or edge Help?

I just got back from a road trip. I have been pretty unhappy with the edge along with the airaid. I have a lifted truck with 35" tires. I travel most of the time(oil field). I just hope that this combo doesnt sound as bad outside the truck as it does inside. Geez it moans and groans in overdrive. Sure it adds great power otherwise but why have a truck that cant drive on the highway. I pulled them both and overdrive sounds great again. It gets better gas mlg. Am I missing something? I am going to ebay this junk otherwise unless any of you want it. I have asked people these questions before and no one seems to have an answer for the edge and airaid hitting 1800 or 1900 rpm and sounding like a starved cow. haha Have a great day!

I had the edge with my k&n intake kit, and it droned terribly in overdrive. i switched to troyer tunes and now it sounds perfect, plus the transmission feels great. try custom tuning, it will fix all your intake sound and compatibility problems.

you could try Bill, aka Asemechanic and see if he can write a custom tune for your Edge to accomodate the CAI.

troyer tunes? haha Not to sound like an idiot but what the heck is that? I emailed bill 3 days ago before the trip and never heard anything. I pulled the airaid. It takes only a few minutes to put back in if need be.

k&n intake kit? let me check it out. I took off the airaid and programmed my edge ... It seems to run really well. I want lots of power but great highway mlg. Is this decent or would you change anything? I read that one guy had his shift firmness at +25 and some at +12.
87octane
Level 2 custom tune
+1.6 WOT Fuel
0 timing advance
shift firmness 1-2@+8, 2-3@+8, 3-4@+4
wot 1-2 5250 2-3 5250 3-5 4700
rev lim 5400

nothing wrong with those settings. I run +12 pressure on the first 2 shifts, I like the firmness. I get better gas mileage running Level 3 on 93 octane with a +1 timing than I do with 87 on level 2. Plus, Level 3 is much better responsively at highway rpms. I have the stock intake, and would hate to do without my Edge.

so to change to 93 octane just change timing to +1 timing? I will try the level 3 with +12 shift. What did you have 3-4 set as? Do I need to run my tank dry before switching to it? I just filled up haha

yes, I would run the tank down to about 1/8 tp 1/4 and fill up with 93 before going to level 3. My 3-4 shift is at +8 and at 4800 rpms, as i recall. Been awhile since i reset any of it. I do lots of highway driving, so just leave it on level 3. Used to run level 2 some, but it works best around town or towing. I also prefer the way level three downshifts in traffic.

and the timing is the grade of gas right? It says .5 for every grade you move up. Would 93 octane be 1.5 or 1?
