We need an FAQ for Programmers!

OK, guys and gals, after finding my Edge did not seem to hold the tire circumference figure I'd put in it, I did a search. After about an hour, I discovered two bits of advice:

1. You MUST reload the previous settings before moving on to check the current defaults (what has already been loaded for a tune). - and -

2. You are supposed to "set" the gear ratio if you want to reset the tire circumference. (I'm not sure this is really needed, but I did it anyway).

Neither of these bits of advice are in the Edge Manual. I'm grateful for the knowledge of all of you for steering me right - but wouldn't an FAQ be the place for these topics?

Since I'm not a webmaster for this forum, I'm not about to set this up, but is it possible to have a "Programmer FAQ"? (I'm talking about ALL programmers here, not just the Edge).

It's been proposed before, several times. Answer was 'no'.

That's what 'Search' is for, or just post the Q. No biggie.

If it's not in the Edge manual, feed that back to them -they should be able to update the online/downloadable manual in short order, if they have the will.

BTW - the closest thing to a tuner FAQ on here was compiled by Chester. It hasn't been updated in a while, but he put a lot of work into it, and did a good job.

You'll need to Search for it, though

Yep, me too. The problem is wading through all the stuff that doesn't apply, especially when a post goes off topic.

Oh well, it was just a wish. I'm really happy this forum exists and it's been a huge help to me.

If yer still 'wading' through fluff, yer not using Advanced Search effectively.

Shouldn't take but a minute to find whatever it is you need, if it's already been discussed.

Practice make perfect.

Good luck.

You could be right, but, as an example, if I search on "tire circumference not holding edge", I still get two pages of "hits". That's quite a bit of stuff to wade through IMHO.

Now, it's possible there is a "better" search pattern to use, but nothing really comes to my feeble mind at the moment.

Agreed! I sit here racking my cabbage, and I cannot for the life of me recall one single instance of this phenomenon!
