What are your guys opinions on this product?

I think it is a good alternative to getting a bunch of gauges and mounting them on the Pillar(less expensive)

Absolutely - the newest version with X-Gauge is extensible to 25 additional display functions.

For the price - cannot be touched.

i just put in a scangauge 2 with the blend mount on the rearveiw mirror and love it. 189.00 shipped with the mounting hardware. http://www.mgtmotorsports.com/ is where i got mine.

 

Yeah, I know... a bit pricey but remember that is directly from MSD. If you hunt around I am sure you can find it cheaper, although not for $169.00.

I love working in HEX and still do every day. I guess I am a geekster to the core. Long live the geeks and nerds.

So how accurate is the Scangauge since its using all the stock sensors, sending units, computer etc?

Ive always wondered this since with the stock gauges and such its either 'OK' or "Not OK"; no real data really. I assume this would just have to be a gauge function since the actual sensors and sending units would need to send out real data for the vehicle to run right, no?
Still makes me wonder though...
So, does the Scangauge actually give you real, good, accurate data as compared to actual aftermarket gauges, or is it just a "Here is a guestimate of what it is' type thing.

It's as accurate as the sensors and PCM processing allows for - and since some of the inputs regulate key engine performance operations, I'd venture they are certainly good enough.

The displays are not to be confused with the additional filtering taking place that results in the 'idiot guages' in the cluster, lol.

Apart from the usual temp/pressure outputs, the list of things you can display give insight into what yer drivetrain is up to - things like Closed Loop/Open Loop, spark, load, TPS, inferred horsepower, tranny slip, fuel pump duty cycles, trans fluid temp (new) and a host of others. On top of all that are the comprehensive fuel mileage/trip functions, and now the ability to enter fuel cost to derive a realtime 'cost of driving' display. In fact the new firmware allows a 'gauge' to be set up to display just about any trip function as such. Very nice.

The biggest draw of X-gauge is of course the extensibility -as long as Linear Logic keeps updating their code list (on the website), the end-user can keep adding more displays.

For $169 or less - a deal. Nice addition to any truck.

Something to add to the list. This is something nice to replace my Edge.

 

The Scan-gauge is very accurate, I use it to watch my supercharger air-charge temperature, and some other things as cylinder head temperature and timing. When i first start the truck in the morning the out side temperature the cylinder head temperature and the air-charge temperature will all be within 2 degrees of each other, the sensors are very accurate. Also the gallons for a Fill up will be within 1/10 of a gallon. For the price it is a great product. Here is a company that works with Scan-gauge and sells the package with a very nice mounting system. Now why can't Edge, err I mean MSD, or whomevers nameplate is on it make a software package for the Edge like that?

 

The Scanguage has a very useful trip computer. Several areas to watch. If your into trying to save fuel, get a Scanguage.

I have one of the originals. Ugly but functional.

Scanguage II is much better looking.

I like the looks of the Dashhawk, (looks like the EDGE I had on my 05).,

But it is missing a good trip computer and is a bit pricey for what it does. Although I do like the ability to do some 0-60 or 1/4 mile runs.
