engine knocking

engine knocking

i have a edge in my truck 2001 5.4l 2wd anyway i put 93 octane in it and bumped up the timing to 2 is that too much or about right i hear people talking about your engine kncoking, so what does it sound like

engine knocks with high octane are normal ask mercedes

If you are talking about spark knock it sounds like someone is hitting your block with a steel hammer

well i am on level 3 with timing up 2 and 93 octane in it and i also have my shift firmness and points adjusted too but people say if u turn it up too much u can hear knocking should i drop it to 1.5 just incase it is and idk what to listen for

Seriously man back the timing off. If you are worried enough to ask a bunch of guys on the net if you should than you probly should! If your EDGE didnt come with a manual go to thier site, download one and read it!! You can increase timing .5 for every octane. LVL3 is made for 91 so if you are running 93 you can up the timing by 1.5 and you should be fine
