On a stock vehicle you should put nothing but 87 octane in your truck.That is what it is designed to run from the factory.If you buy a tuner reprogram the computer for higher octane gas to make more power.It dosn't matter what kind of tuner wheather custom or canned.Most of them have more than 1 choice as far as gas that you can safely run to gain the most power.
With a custom tuner you can pick what octane level you want and what it will be used for...towing,performance,drag racing etc...
A tuner is the best mod for the money for power gains IMO!

Just an update.I have been running 93perf tune for a few days and it runs pretty strong on that all the way to redline!!!I don't see myself using any other tunes after using this one unless gas goes way up.
I took my dad for a ride this morning on wet roads and The look on his face was about like this

I wasn't aware of it when I bought it (through no fault but my own) but the superchips flashpaq 1815 doesn't have the choice of 89 octane, it just has 87 and the 91 perf tune and 91 tow tune. I rather have the 89 tune. Oh well.
