Troyer= not good!!

going to try to keep this short simple & to the point! to begin with there customer service Sucks, i have a new f150 and ordered there airforce1 3.5 and SCT tuner thinking for some improvement over stock. that was on April 16, is it better? think again! the truck has absolutely NO bottom end until 3200RPM. called to see what they could do to maby tweak the tune like BRENSPEED did with my 06 mustang and thats where the B.S. i.m.o. started. nope no tweaking here! "you have to datalog it". alright no prob, send datalog garbage to them, hear nothing for a week, call to see how its going and get the "oh yeah i got the fax but i need more". your going to have to dyno it so we know whats up. well after finding someplace with a dyno POWERLABS.BIZ over an hour away i had it dynoed. COST=$200. faxed to troyer and yep you guessed it..... called a week later and "we need more info", data logged again drove up to powerlabs got everything i could and faxed again! give them two weeks and call... they say they received the fax but the numbers on the datalog sheet are in an old format!thats the format they sent me! and they say they have to figure it out! that was two weeks ago, so after 5 MONTHS and all but $1000 dollars here i sit with a truck that runs like s%&t with no clue on getting a new tune or not a. seems to me they are after the dollar and not the support. so i'll be sending it back next week if i dont get something i can use and talk to brent at BRENSPEED i guess. you people can do your so called flaming against me but this is just my experience with troyer and there support!

I ordered my Troyer tuned Xcal 2 last week, so expecting it in October.

I'm very much looking forward to getting the tunes, but I'll also be absolutely honest on here about my experience, good or bad.

Ordered my AF1 intake through Troyer before I even considered tunes and couldn't be happier.

My experience with ordering the Xcal 2 was just fine.

When the tuner/tunes arrive I'll see how that goes.

It sucks that you've had a bad experience. From all I've read and heard and experienced you should call Troyer, I'm sure that Mike will make the time to talk to an unsatisfied customer and try to help you out.

yea, he will. No offence to troyer at all, but im having a very top notch tuner do my tuning when I get my engine done, he will have my tunes in 2 days from the time I order, and he specializes in built 5.4 engines, and free tweaking too. I just cant wait months for this, when im ready to drop the engine in, I will have my tune.

I hope you get things worked out with Troyer.

I've had good experience with Brenspeed. At one time I had my Mustang on a dyno and the shop I took it to said my A/F ratio was way too rich. Of course they offered to tune it, for $400+. I called Brenspeed and they said the place I took it to might have tested it wrong or had faulty equipment or were maybe just trying to get me to pay them for a tune.

Brenspeed offered to put my Mustang on their own dyno and if any adjustments had to be made they'd do it for free. Well, I drove over to Brenspeed and Brent himself tested it on the dyno while I was right there watching. He did it on a Saturday (his off day) because I told them I'd rather not take a day off of work to go there. Everything was fine! I'm glad I didn't listen to the other shop.

WOW ! I really hope that it was just some mis-communication or a mis-understanding somewhere along the line. With all the good things I read about them, I cant believe it's intentional. I had a horrible customer service experience with a guy who builds power steering boxes for classic Fords and I ended up eating $1,600 and still have piece of crap steering box so I know how frustrated you are. Mike is probably a stand up guy so I wouldn't lose hope yet. I should have my tunes in about two weeks .

Complaining and bashing on a forum in order to get your problem aired is lame. Call Troyer and iron out your issues. That would be the professional way to handle your problems.

Sell it and buy an Edge and your problem solved, then you can program it to your liking.

Seriously good luck! This is probably the 1st time Ive heard anything bad about Troyer besides having to wait 2-3 months to get the Xcal 2.

With the 3.5 AF1, I think it is expected that you will lose some bottom end, but gain at the higher rpms. I have the same setup and noticed this, too. So, it might not be the tune, but rather the intake. Let us know if your other tuner is able to get your bottom end back.

I dont know Troyer, and we have only heard one side, but look at how many times this guy has tried to help resolve the problem. He is getting the run-around. Its clear he is not a priority as he can and should be and he needs results. Posting here for other potenial customers to see will get his attention and will get resolution.
5 months and 1 g for a Fing tune! Im getting pissed just reading the poor guys story

It's a sad story indeed, but I'm sure there's more to the story than meets the eye. There has to be a communication lapse somewhere. Airing the issues here is a bad choice, plus he's already promoting another tuner at the same time. Alterior motives? Who knows. It's poor judgement if you ask me.

I don't know the details of the argument either, or the whole story. However, as a business, Troyer Performance should not be immune to reviews of experience. People offer opinions every day about how this tire shop sucks, or these mufflers suck. No one jumps their case for their opinion (maybe the merits of the argument, but not the fact that they are posting their frustrations). Mike Troyer is a supporting member of this forum, fine. Troyer Performance is also a business just like Flowmaster, Costco (tires), Home Depot, whatever. As I read his post, bermbasher never made any personal attacks against Mike Troyer, just aired his frustration as a customer experience with the business "Troyer Performace".

OK, there are two sides to every story though. We've read one.

True. I have spoken to Troyer a couple of times, and each time I was met by a friendly knowledgable person that seemed to give good advise. I suggest that you call and ask to speak to him personally. See if you can get it worked out. If you can't work your problems out, there are several other SCT custom tune dealers that can do the same work as Troyer. Maybe you can give them a shot.
