New to tuning.... help please

I need to pick the brains of the experinced tuners on here.

The only thing I need.... is to recalibrate my speedo/OD.. mainly the OD. Because I just realized that since my Speedo is off, then so is my OD, so when the OD says I have wenrt 60 miles, I have actually went about 66 or so.... Normally not a problem except I use my truck for work and am reimbursed for mileage...... As is I'm not getting paid for all the miles I actually go! I'm giving them 30-40 or more miles a week and will total about 2K miles at the end of the year to them and 5K that I wont get to deduct on taxes.

I'm straped for cash right now, so would like to find a solution for under $100 if possiable.

I've been searching Ebay hopeing to find a tuner, to get the extra MPG + performance + calibrate......

Does anyone have any cheap suggestions.... like I said main thing I NEED to do is calibrate speedo and OD.

So you have put oversized tires on your truck right??
I don't think you are going to find a tuner for $100 ever!!!!
All of them are going to run about $400 canned or custom new.
If you buy a used one make sure it's not locked.

Yea I just need to adjust for tire size.....

Yea even on ebay, they are going $150 for new in box.

Which would pay for itself in my mileage reimbursment alone, in about 6-8 weeks, any MPG savings would just accelerate that. I just don't have $150 right now. Which is really sad but will probably be another month or two before I am caught up on bills after summmer break. (I work with schools so I am layed off during the summer, and it lasted longer than I expected as well as had some unexpected expenses incured over the lay off so I fell behind.)

Yup i think the dealer can adjust it for you.If all you want is to change tire size that is your best bet for the least money.

I called the auto store to see if they had a cheap programer that could do it, or if thier OBDII scanner that they let us borrow to get codes could do it. A guy from Ford works thier part time, he was there and said to call Ford too. So I guess I'll call Monday and see how much, then see when I might could get it in.

If you're looking for the cheapest way to pick up a little mpg i would say before you spend 400+ on a tuner go with a cold air intake I know when I had mine put on i picked up 1 mpg right away.....now i did already have the catback magnaflow so maybe that helped a little but you can get a CAI for around $200 and their easy to put on so that might be an option....the dealer should be able to fix the speedo/odo I would think.

I'm running slightly larger, 245/75 was the closet to stock I could find in 6 plys. I wanted 6 ply to pull my boat and camper and stuff better. Wasnt a problem until I just got this job last spring.... Then it just dawned on me last week that becasue my speedo is off by 6 miles at 60mph then so is my OD, so I've been screwing myself all this time.

I would soooo get a moped "IF" it wasnt mostly highway travel, and "if" I didnt have 400+ lbs's of gear to carry.
I thought about getting a smaller (mid to full size car) for better gas mileage vehilce, (all the gear wont fit in a compact car) but when I crunched the numbers. best gas mileage I could find them to get was around 25mpg if lucky. I'm getting 16.75mpg - 17.5mpg with my 5.4. with only a 8 mpg increase, if I paid only $2K for a car it would take atleast 2 years to get the money back. Not worth the investment, as it is now, I got room and power, It's worth the $2K every 2 years for that. Plus I can drag the trailers at work around when we need to, so makes me handy for them to keep around too. I do like that! Only one other guy at the office has anything to pull the trailer, even though it's just a small 8x10 utility trailer..

As far as fat girls, they arent all bad,
Fat girls are like an old farm truck......
They are not bad to have around the house.
But they sure are not much to take to town!!!

Everyone says Fat girls are not very athletic..... BS!
Take thier little debbie cakes away from them and try to out run them!!!! I bet you can't!

LOL

OK OK I'll stop

Use google maps to find the mileage and compare to yours. If you know yours is wrong, use the map mileage. It's what I do.

That would be great if I didnt get lost once or twice a week!
Seriously, mapquest and google can get you to the town, but thy dont always know exactly what they are talking about for an exact address. Sometimes there is not even a street with the name they tell you to trun on in the town.

You are on I-44 enough - do a manual odometer calibration by the mileposts, come up with a conversion factor, and apply it when you turn in your expense sheets.
