Edge ? Stock reset back to custom program

Is this how you go from a custom program back to stock, then reinstalling the edge back to your original custom program.

Reset edge back to stock setting in performance menu. Disconnect from PCM cable in truck then get ford dealer service done.

Upon pick up of truck at dealer it should be in stock mode, turn ignition to on, plug in pcm cable fron the edge, how do I go back to the previous settings I had, is there a menu to go to or do I need to reprogarm the edge every time I disconnect it ???

Did i make sense here.

You have to re enter all custom settings anytime you go from stock or one level to another. If you are in say level 2 and just want to change one or two settings, there is a menu item to save the settings, then you go change the one you want to and all others have been saved.

No!

You got it mostly right - I think the part about saved settings is in the manual ( RTFM ) - referred to as something like the 'load previous setings' or some such.

A lot of folks just plug the custom settings back in manually - it appears more reliable that way - why... I dunno.

Good luck

Isn't that "load previous settings" only for when you are modifying the program you have currently loaded? If you were in Level 3 with custom settings, did the load previous settings, then went to stock, then back to level 3, those setting saved would be gone, I think. I think that was the senario he was asking about.

Naw, you just have so much more in your head that you have to sort out. Mine is fairly empty and quick to get a reply.

Guys I messed with mine the other night and couldnt figure it out. Well what I did was start new lvl3 (custom) and was hoping to find a save at the end. I guess I need to now go into my lvl3 custom setting and see if I can now save it maybe since now its stored? I would really like to make it save the settings. I seem to switch around to 2 because of towing plus experimenting new settings on lvl3 too.

I don't think you are seeing what I am saying. It will not save the settings when going from one level to another. It enters the base program every time you reprogram and you must enter what custom changes you want to make each time. It only saves settings if you have already entered the program and just want to go back and change a setting within that program.

What !!! go back , dont save, save, i dont get it. It seems that anytime you tell the programmer to reset to stock settings and disconnect then reconnect you MUST reprogram EVERYTHING. This was per edge tech dept 2 minutes ago on the phone. I think that su*k*.

Oh the Spark alert apparently is inevitable to happen on these things even though my stamped production date on the unit is 7/7/07 it still occurs and apparently I need to download software onto my BRAND NEW $450. unit. Go figure..... For now I'll cancel the alert settings.

Other then that this unit has brought LIFE back into the performance of my truck, I can now pass people again on the highway..

having to reenter settings is a safety feature. keeps you from leaving the timing advanced when you go back to 87 after running 93. Think of the exposure they would have had if they left that in there.

Yes you make sense, again thanks to this forums members for ALL the knowledge here. I'd be even more lost here without you all.
