Edge Tech support = Spark alert answer ..

Well the folks at Edge Tech support told me that the "sperk alert" issue is inevitable to happen with ALL progammers, my unit was produced 7/7/07 the techs response to that was even units built yesterday will do it. Supposed fix according to them is a software download, $450. and I have to download software, thats rediculous, however the unit fixed my issue other wise.

What's ridiculous:

1. Whining about having updates to apply - be thankful they provide them.
2. Whining about the price (you mentioned it at least twice)
3. Whining about having to enter custom settings - be thankful you can.
4. Starting yet another whining thread on exactly the same topic.

And the best one:

5. Having a pre-existing lean condition (as a lot of '04's have, right from the factory) - and not being able to fix it with an Edge. LOL! Heaven help you if you add an intake mod....
This last item, you'll have to search for all by yer lonesome- I sure ain't gonna do any more searches for ya lol.

BTW - thanks for the update!

Now - want some cheeeeez???

Bubba

Yeah your right maybe I'm reading to many other posts and all the whinning everybody else is doing. I did say it fixed my main issues , Im just surprised that something can be produced and sold without it having to be updated upon its unopened box and arrival.

Thats like me selling a 997 turbo to a customer and he comes in and picks the car up to take home, but finds out he cant because there is no fuel in it.

I dont mean to be redundant here sorry.

Im not sure but are you saying an intake mod would fix the lean issue or maybe if I new how to program a custom tune I might be able to correct the sparl alert warning. C'mon help me out here , I am technically challenged when it comes to things like that.

What he is saying is that your truck is very likely running lean already and an aftermarket intake will only worsen that condition. He also says that the Edge is not prgrammable to correct a lean condition, so to be safe, you should just save your money and not add an intake.

JIM, Thank You for the reply , I will save my money I appreciate your answer to what I did not understand ! How much harm will happen by the truck already running lean from the factory it has 44000 miles on it. I am thankful that the programmer has helped my truck wake back up after just using the level 2 setting and adjusting the tire size. I will NOT attempt any other changes to it, its fine the way it is.

Thanx again..

You could also put it on a dyno and see if its running lean.

I made a post the other day. I did the most recent update that Edge offers and my spark plug issue went away.
