Warranty Issues

Hey All,
I am aware of the Magnuson-Moss act of 1975 which protects our legalities with concern to voided warranty issues on aftermarket parts. But my question is this, if I were to install the Evolution Edge, could I easily uninstall the device without my own ECU knowing it was installed in case of a problem that arises? Couldn't I just as easliy remove the Evo, disconnect the battery to remove any diagnostic error codes, and then take the truck in for service, therefore "NOT" VOIDING the warranty?

this has been debated many times here and last I read when you reflash, it does not have the capapbility to remember any changes

Uh?

Not sure that helped me understand your reasoning completely.
So what your saying is when I install the Edge Evolution it is going to reflash my chip onboard, therefore erasing all the stock information on the chip? So this means that the ROM chip of the stock ECU is completely re-written with info from the Edge processor?..
Meaning I can never go back to my stock settings on my current setup even if I uninstall the device.

you are correct that it erases the stock information...however before it installs the new tune it will copy the stock information to the Edge so you can go back to stock at any time

you will always want to return to stock before bringing to dealer for any work in case they reflash!

From what I understand you can return your truck's ECU back to stock anytime with the Edge. I had to take my truck to the body shop so I just programmed back to stock and unpluged the evolution without a problem. They probably never know I even had the programmer in the truck. Unless there is some way to see a date stamp or something I don't see how they would know. But not promises.

Anytime I take my truck to the dealer for any warranty work, oil change ect. I ALWAYS just for my sake set my EDGE back to stock and unplug it under the dash. My dealer has never said a word and have took my truck in more then just a few times.

Mx, the Edge downloads your truck's stock PCM settings into the unit and saves it, so anytime you need to go to the dealer you can just re-flash to your stock programming. Then flash back your performance tunes once it's out of the clutches of the dealer.

They have no way of reading/knowing that you've changed the tuning.

Don't plaster TUNING BY EDGE decals all over the truck tho..

Update!

Thanks guys,
This info is helping me a lot. I've only had this truck for 3 months and instantly wanted to do as much to it as I can. I love this Ford Truck! I just talked to Crystal at TP and it looks like the Xcal2 is the way to go, considering the unit is mapped to "your" particular setup and truck, and it helps to be a F150online member! I'm in Virginia too, so I'll get the unit faster! Can't wait!
