Calling All Those With Edge...
im about to turn 21 and i want an edge tuner for my 2003 F150...are yall happy that you have it and is it a noticable difference in power and how hard is it install...and what are running for the 4 programs you can run...thanks in advance for yalls help with this...
Install is easy. If you can plug a light in you can do this. YOu just route one wire through the weather seal on your door under your dash and plug it in. No soldering or splicing.
What engine do you have.
Its an awsome programmer and the guages are sweet to boot.
Lots of things you can do to get a ton of power or more MPG's. Just deoends on how you run it and how much you like to put your foot into her.

Hey I have a 2000 with the 5.4 and I think it's great! Easy to install and fun to mess around with. Basically you would be running level 2 so you can use 87 octane or level 3 with high octane. I was running 3 for a while with 93 octane and the power was great, but my milleage was not any better than running level 2 with 87 so for now I switched back, because level 2 still has a significant power increase over stock even with 87 octane.
It's a great tuner....like most people on here will say if you are willing to wait a while or know somewhere in your area that does custom dyno tuning you will probably get even better results, especially if you plan on doing alot of different mods. However if you are doing just exhaust or intake and thats about it than you will be fine.
If I ever get into heavy mods in the future I will probably just get a custom chip made and keep the edge for gauges possibly.

Couple of htings to add. DeathMetalTruck had it right. If your planning on any huge future mods then this isn't for you. Also DeathMetalTruck, If you plan on doing that why dont you sell your edge and buy a dash hawk. Its the same guage cluster and everythign and you can find them on ebay for 100$. Cheap and you can do all the same things as the edge with out programing it.
Also i saw my best performance for in town driving and my best MPG's while running Level 2 with 91. It cost me a bit more to fuel up my tank but i saw more mile per tank.

$100 for a dashhawk on ebay??? I thought they were like $300, I guess I'll go check and see. I am happy with the Edge though for now. Honestly I don't know if I will go seriously mod crazy with this truck. It's fun but alot of money. I might hold off on alot of stuff. I am gonna keep the truck for a while longer, but am thinking about getting a F250 PSD in the future. Probably not for a while though.
If you watch close you can find them going that cheap. I just looked and i didn't see any. Thats what im doing. Getting my Xcal2 and the dashhawk so that i can have the best of both worlds. Little more pricy but youll never be let down.

I think for the majority in here, the Edge is fine with as stated before, CAI and exhaust. If you do engine parts replacement, then it would be obvious for the custom tune. For a couple bolt-ons, the Edge is fine and I like the idea of more accurate gauges that factory 'dummy' lights.

Frequent retuning doesn't allow adaptive strategy to work it's magic. Hence you may be missing out on the ongoing improvements in shifting and performance this brings ....
Also - too much advance and the PCM will just pull out a pile of advance on ya - hurting performance. And you can't reliably detect incipient detonation with them funny lookin' thangs stuck on each side of yer head anyway...
Try using the built-in PID data capture features to help you set up properly - you paid for it - might as well use it if you are serious about tweaking the truck...
.... just fyi

That's so true ^^^^
You need about 20 drive cycles lol , your shifting takes only 3 or 4 to set trans tables correctly (but rough) and it will go on with fine tuning for awhile , in-fact it never really quits.
You need to be a little patient to let it do it's thing ..
Have you ever noticed the last two gears hitting a little to quickly at first ? That will straiten out if given the time to..

MGDfan and jbrew said it best so theres no sense in me typing it out. Im just learning as you guys and i do a ton of reserch on here and on the net. if you serch the forums for adaptive strategy you get more info on it i think. Its very important if you have and automatic.
