What can Mike Troyer do?

I have a 98 4.6 and am looking at the Xcal2. Actully the Stage 2 upgrade. My questions are.

1.) Does mikes tuning change for things like under drive pulleys or efans?

2.) Can mike program the speed limiter out of my 98. I know i cant adjust for gears or tires. And my edge wouldn't let me move the limiter. Can he?

Ya give them a call, someone there can answer it better

For now,I think Mike bumps the idle up slightly when adding underdrive pullies.I don't think any changes are required for the e-fans.
As far as the speed limiter, gears and tires that is what the custom tune is for.I think he fixes all of that stuff if you want when he rewrites the comp.
Also keep in mind twintips that alot of the fords did not go into open loop from factory and the only way to fix that is custom tuning.
Thats the best i can answer for ya!!
Good luck,i should have my tunes in a few weaks I am on weak 4 now so i am hoping in another 2-3 i'll have them!!!

Hey its esier for me to just give you a link to some of Troyers posts!!!

Here ya go,i will get a couple,if you want more do a search on (open loop)https://www.f150online.com/forums/sh...ight=open+loop

https://www.f150online.com/forums/sh...ight=open+loop

Oh and get your 4 digit PCM code from the passenger side door,by the fender if the sticker is still there.Or you can get it off the COMP,passenger side up under the dash---have the code ready for mike or post it here,he will know if it will go open loop and will prob respond if he sees it---better off to just call though

GREAT!!!!!

I read those posts and they make perfect sense. THanks for the help.

BUT...............

I went to find my code and i ran into a problem. The sticker in the door reads "blah"KL2.... So then i checked the computer under the dash. The cover that the sticker is on was gone and the owner b4 me had removed the PCM and then duct taped it in. How awsome is that? Is there somewhere else to find it. How about by VIN?

Also. If it is closed from the factory can mike program it to open?

No problem

Man that is terrible luck Duct tape,WTF
I don't think the VIN has any influence on PCM code but i could be wrong.
I know that you can have the PCM code read at the dealer for a fee.I would actually suggest that,if the guy b4 you duct tape stuff, who knows what he did or had done.Anything under the hood stating a new PCM code??

Oh and yes Mike will make it go open loop even if it didn't from factory

Cool deal. I cant wait to order my stage 2 from him! LOL So i have to go to the dealer to get it. Is there a way my edge will tell me? Just tothrow that out there. I know it has "hex files" i dont know if there crossable to any database. I dont know the guy before me as i bouaght it from a dealer. But this isn't th first thing i have found half ***. WTF is right. Who duct tapes a computer anymore.

That is pretty backyard mechanic!!!
Honestly I don't think the edge will give you the info you need,i doubt it??
I believe it is similar to a re-flash but all you need done is to see what your current PCM strategy or file, you don't actually need a re-flash.I am pretty sure the dealer has to do this???

Hey good decision on the stage 2 kit

I think i will be. The only thing that has me worried is i read a ton of post and in one ( i cant find it ) but jbrew states that the tranny can handle the swap to a 5.4 whichwas what i was considering but decided to go with the stage 2. He says the tranny cant handle the HP. And the way im on it . Well that states its self. What do you think. I have have M5-RD

I don't think they ever offered the 5.4 with 5spd I looked forever to find one and never saw one so i ended up with auto.I love 5spds and what you are considering is what i actually wanted!!Before you decide on something like that i would cheack to see if their is any way you could have the tranny upgraded....it would cost alot to do though........it could take it but how long???i mean if you started power shifting it with a modded 5.4 i bet you would be missing gears before long, not cool,i have done that b4!!
i think i would just mod your 4.6 more like your doing What gear ratio do you have in the rear dif???If you do some work on your truck you can get some great power from that 4.6!!!

i have 3.55s. Not the nicest. I want 410's. I have looked into trannys. The 6spd tranny from the 5.4 leter and ps 250 fit the 5.4 in the f150 with some modifactaion. FUN. LOL. THe only problem is that its a $1000 tranny rebuilt. I just put a tranny in my truck. Like less than 5000 miles on it. So if i do the upgrade and it blows. Well i guess i know whats next. LOL.

I want to drop the 5.4 in there but i can get hte same #'s by moding mine for less. The only problem is that the next step of mods is expensive. Where th 5.4 would be kinda expensive to put in. but mods past that would be cheap.

ha ha...
Ya,if you want to go fast it costs money unfortunately

I guess it really depends how much you want from it???I think you will be happy with it after modding the 4.6 and adding the 4.10 gears

Man now you have me all worried that my truck could have been reflashed i doubt it but ya never know,i have all work done to it since i am 2 owner.Remember if it has been reflashed the custom tune will not work!!!Troyer will then have to re-write the tunes to your proper PCM#!!!

So how would i find the proper PCM code. Would that mean a trip to the dealer?
