Xcal2 On-Device Datalogging, What am I doing wrong!???

Ok, so I'm trying to get some datalog info so a tuner can adjust/fine tune my e-mail tune. However, my Xcal2 is being a major pain in the butt. I can setup the datalog file ok with LiveLink, the file will initialize and begin displaying the chosen parameters when linked to the truck, but when I transfer the log file to the PC all I get are 0's right across the board. All I do is hit "cancel" on the xcal to stop the datalogging, is this right?? I'm getting extremely frustrated at the moment. I'm using LiveLink 4.0 Build 9 and Xcal v. 1.10

From my understanding you will log the last 90 seconds of the run, when you bring the Xcal2 to the PC you connect it and open live link from the Basic blue screen click on the file button on the upper most left corner, go down to get live link data from device and click on that, if you watch the xcal2 it will be giving % of download only takes a few seconds and the info will be on the program. put check marks in a few blocks and hit the arrow for playback and it should work. there is a help file for the 4.11 version that seems to be OK at the top click on help and then on contents you can scroll through for different problems, I am learning also and once past the frustration, it works well, a written manual would be great. i actually printed a couple of the help files for easier accessibility.

Actually, when you view the log file in LiveLink it will display all BUT the last 90 seconds. The file seems to download from my xcal just fine, it goes all the way to 100%. Even if I check all the parameters and assign the gauges to some parameters nothing is displayed. It's as if the xcal isn't saving any of the information I am datalogging. I don't get what the problem could be other than a deffective xcal2.

When you start with all the PIDs on the xcal2 are you enabling the actual PIDs they are all disabled by default and you must enable each one. also not all PIDs work with all computers, which PIDs are you viewing?? If you email me I can send you a file that you can open with live load and see if you are using live load correctly. I have sent this file to a friend and he was able to view it.

All the PID's are enabled before I start datalogging. I need to datalog:
Short term fuel trims for both banks
MAF Counts
Load
Engine RPM
Throttle absolute position
Spark advance
Vehicle speed
Front 02 sensor voltages.
short term fuel trims bank1 and 2
These are for JJ (Woodbine Motorsports) who is tuning my truck via e-mail. I'd appreciate it if you sent me a sample logfile to view. My e-mail addie is mustang_phreak@hotmail.com I just have a feeling that it's something with my xcalibrator but I definitely appreciate the help.

I think your problem may be your Xcal2 firmware version.

You need to be at v1.14. V1.10 is very old.

Ask SCT to give you a link to download it, or ask your tuner to provide it. Go to SCT's site to get LiveLoad to install it.

Chuck's directions are correct. Mine works fine also.

This is where after-sale customer service is key - JJ should be helping you right through this. If you bought the unit recently it should have the latest firmware on it, not v 1.10. Get on their case, asap.

BTW - front O2 voltages are a poor substitute for proper A/F data using a wideband - which can be readily interfaced to the X2. And why no fuel trim data??? This does not sound right at all.

Good luck.

I'll do that. I wasn't aware there was any other firmware version available other than v. 1.15 which SCT says is for 07+. I'll see if that helps, but that's IF I can find a link to v. 1.14. I must not have highlighted the fuel trims, they are included. I don't have a laptop to be able to datalog my A/F ratio's right now.

My firmware is 1.14 try downloading the Xcal2 to live-link 3 I just did a log and it did what you are experiencing with live link 4.11 they must have a problem with their update. after creating a file with live link 3 I can open the file on 4 but it will not accept the download from the Xcal2 the xcal2 goes through all the percentages but nothing is there. (lights on but no ones home)

Chuck your theory was spot on. I was able to choose the PIDS and load the logfile onto my xcal2 using Livelink4 and after data logging I was able to view the logfile perfectly with Livelink3. When I imported the file using Livelink4 all I got were a bunch of zero's. I still can't get the o2 sensor voltage for Bank2 to record though, I keep getting an error when the data capture is initializing. We might be able to work around that though..at least I know my xcal isn't the problem.

That's good news.

I never upgraded LiveLink from v3.1.41. Glad I didn't lol.

Nice work, Chuck.

STRYKS2X - I'll email you v1.14 firmware. Give it a try and see if it resolves your data capture issues.

cheers
