Stage 1 Questions

Hi,
Had my '06 5.4L F-150 about a year and am ready for some upgrades.

My eye is on the Troyer Stage 1.
After reading for several hours here in the forum I see that I would have to wait to get my custom tune done. Fair enough for a hand made tune.

Some questions for those that have theirs already.
If I order the package will it be sent right away, minus the custom tune? That would allow me to get the CAI and exhaust on.

Does it change the shifting when going to "passing" gear?
I get terrible lag when I floor the pedal to pass or accelerate from say about 60mph in OD.

Ok I know this is silly but darn it I want to spin the tires from a dead stop.
I'm running 3.55 gears(LS), extended cab and short bed snd it won't break the tires loose unless there is something there to help it (sand, water etc). (the Chevy I test drove would lay long black marks)

Is the exhaust "droney"??
I saw several posts stating that the Banks exhaust did not drone. My '92 has a Flowmaster and drones bad.

Thanks
James

I can only answer your first question because I just ordered a stage 1 package myself.I asked them to send the AF1,exhaust and programmer now and I'll wait for the tunes to come later.I felt this way I can have a little something to hold me over performance wise until the tunes come....

Funny answering my own post but here goes.

Emailed Troyer and Crystal replied back saying I should call them.
I talked with Alan and he answered all my questions. Assured me that the exhaust didn't drone and sounded great.

So I went ahead and ordered the Stage 1 with the Livewire tuner, 3" AIR intake and SISO exhaust.

I decided on the Livewire because it offered canned tunes as well as the option to custom tune. (which I opted for also).

Since the Livewire has the ability to clock 0-60 and 1/4 mile times I am going to do some before and after tests.

Stay tuned!

James

Here is a post that I wrote a few weeks ago when I recieved my tunes to complete my stage 1 kit.

I just received my tunes yesterday and the 1st thing I did was load them ( 87 Tow) into the truck and hooked the boat up for a test run ( Tournament boat weighing 6500LBS)

OMG- it pulled the boat like a F350 ...well almost....... unbelievable change.

We noticed no ill effects from the tunes only positive, the truck pulled hard, shifted perfect and was so responsive to throttle input at any speed.

I ordered the complete stage 1 kit based on the recommendations of fellow users here and the Troyer website. By all means this is the best bang for buck their is. Money well spent

My Stage one review:

-Magnaflow exhaust- Perfect sound, awesome performance and easy install.

-Airforce1 -Again awesome sound, no drown more power, easy install with excellent detailed instructions.

- Troyer custom tunes, So worth the wait..

All together the system is perfect and I could not be any happier.

For anyone considering Troyer tuning for their F150, do yourself a favor and order then now, I know the wait will seem long at times, but in the big picture when you will own and enjoy the truck for years to come, the wait is really minimal.
